Exclamation Posible 545e?

Seeing the new LCI 5 series makes me really happy. where i live hybridization or electrification is becoming the standard and we really do love our practical wagons. I recently found out that the x5 has a 3.0 i6 plugin hybrid. If bmw would maybe put that engine in the 5 series i think it could be a success because who does not love a i6 that can have a good fuleconomy. main market would obviously be in dailyble performance witch a lot of enthusiast might be interested in. something fun to drive with a bit more power over the norm and it would be practical. I cant be the only one that would love to own something like this right?
interested to know what others think

Whatever BMW is doing, it seems to be working. You may think they have fallen in design, but their unit global sales keep climbing. I for one, like BMW's design direction. They can't please everybody.

is the picture cut off? 2007 - 20?? also the bottom is cut off too. you can say the sales growth tapered off towards the end. and most new "ugly" cars BMW produced are within the past year or 2.

Sorry it was cut off. The graph is 2007 through 2019.

If you don't like the design direction, I get that. I hated the Bangle years, specifically the E60 and the 7 series of that era. So, I'm not opposed to hating a particular design. Fact is, the E60 sold well. I thought it was butt ugly. It looks like you are in a similar boat here. My guess is BMW is not changing their design direction based on forum feedback. They have a plan and its working for them. Your choices are pretty clear: Drive what you have until BMW design returns to your standards, go with another brand, or cave and buy a model your don't love (my least favorite choice).

I can live with the larger traditional grills (although I prefer smaller) but I can't live with the new grills as on the new 4 series. But, as noted above, some will like it and buy/lease them and for those of us who don't, if they don't change we can always go elsewhere.

I, for one, question the conventional wisdom that somehow the Chinese citizens like massive, ugly grills. I wonder if BMW does focus groups on its designs and, if so, what were the results.

Liking the new headlight design too.
At least BMW spared the 5 series from on oversized grill like the new 4 series.
Looking forward to some reviews of the 545e - sounds like a great all rounder.

Saw this at the local dealer the other day. I like the new rear lights, the front is not really an upgrade compared to the old one IMHO.

I noticed, that the FL model now only has a single camera in the windscreen instead of two.

It is a 520d, and i believe the sticker said Sport Line. Beeing in Denmark, most things are optional, so compared to i.e. the US, I guess this car is quite "basic".

The assessment of what they are doing must be working is incorrect. The sales have increased because BMW has increased the amount of models in that time frame so more types of buyers.
Also in that time frame BMW is selling a lot more vehicles in China.

Are you aware of the fact that the 5 LCI headlights were very probably greenlight years before the reveal of the 2020 Skoda Octavia last last year?
I rest my case.
