Will this function work if the passenger seat has no memory function?

Garage List
Ordered

I ordered the switch today, should have it tomorrow. From watching the video it looks extremely painful to remove. Do you think thats the proper way to remove the old one?

Does anyone have any news about this topic?
I’m still wondering if for my G31 I need to code or not the car.
I know it’s an old post but it would great to ear if someone was able to install and use the switch just like showed in the video...

You would need to code it, but it’s only 1-2 codes in the seat module.

Thanks roxxor. Since I’ve zero experience about coding, is it something complex or easy to do? Eventually, do you know if with bimmercode is possible to code it?
Thanks

Can’t remember if BimmerCode has it listed, but if the seat module has “expert mode”, then yes, you could do it with BimmerCode. Just changing the 2 “gentleman” values to “aktiv”

using Bimmercode, you must Activate Gentlemen function for BOTH passenger and driver seat. Menu looks like 3000 SM_Global>Gentlemen>Aktiv

I just purchased an Ivory colored switch for my vehicle from ECS tuning. Should be here next week or so. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Anyone able to decipher which part number is needed for this?

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/en/showp...diagId=61_6278

My interior is cognac, switch itself is black(schwarz) and I do have massage option.

I thought it was 61316997301, but it says CANBERRA-BEIGE in 'Supp.' column.

edit: on second look, I believe 61316997300 is what I need

I'm hoping I get the part. It now says backordered, we will see.

Question... Can this be added to standard memory seats or is it just the comfort armchairs?

Wow, had this on every other car I've owned with electric memory seats and I was surprised it wasn't on my G31... I'm sure it was on my F31, but that was 7 years ago so maybe I can't remember...

Anyway, ramble over...

I think this can be added to any memory seats. My seats do not have cooling or massage, only heat.

Finally, got the time to install the new button. It was a pain to remove the old one, needed to break the clips like the guy in the video so not sure the old part can be used any more. Also new part seems to be more rounded than the old one so the fit is not ideal but not noticable to normal people.

Easiest part was the coding. Without coding, none of the functions work at all.

Seems like there is a change in code

Is the coding just activating the function in both front seats?

Yes.

bimmercode:

1. seat module driver, enable expert mode > 3000 sm global > gentleman change to aktiv
2. seat module passenger, enable expert mode > 3000 sm global > gentleman change to aktiv

Hi r1cero Could you let me know what part number you ordered? I have the black interior with massage seats so I should use the same part that you did. I think it would be 61-31-6-997-300 but wanted to make sure. Thanks!

THANKS! That confirms that the first switch I bought was defective. I plugged it in and even the "basic" functions didn't work, even with the coding. I have a new one coming from Lithuania.

Basic functions didn't work for me either, they started working after the coding. But if the bimmercode said coding successful and you were sure the connector was plugged in properly, than definitely broken part.

@WretchedRefuse

Yes, that's the one.

I coded the function prior to installing the switch. The factory switch worked perfectly after reinstalling it. Think I should uncode then recode the function?

Success! I installed the switch, coded my 2020 550i and everything works as advertised. Since I had previously installed the Bavsound speakers I knew how to remove the door card (not a job for the uninitiated!) Doing so allowed me to remove the factory switch without destroying the metal tabs. It added about an hour to the job.

Yes, removing the door card and pushing the switch from the back is definitely the cleanest way to go about this.
