So got the car back yesterday.
Had a custom ECU tune and aftermarket charge pipe kit installed. Also had sports dials updated.

Car is a lot more responsive.
Kw power on the dials reaches 240 Kw
Torque on the dials reaches 450 Nm

Definitely doesn’t feel like a 4cyl anymore.

Just picked up a 2020 530i Msport and was curious if the bootmod 3 tune can be turned off and on if I had to take it in for service or is it just never a good idea to tune under warranty? Not sure if the dealer can tell if there was ever a tune installed whether its on or not.

If you've tuned with bm3 once it will be traceable even after you reverse it to stock. That does not neccessarily mean that the whole warranty is voided, but unless you can prove that any potential problems with the engine in the future is unrelated to the tune, then I would suggest you to stay away from tuning altogheter.

Bootmod3 on 520i has more potential gain in hp compared to 530i, simply because the b48 in the 520i is a detuned version of the b48 in the 530i.

DME mentions these things indeed on their web page where you presumably ordered the tune…..they will apparently discuss these things with you when you have your appointment for remote tuning.
If you have a late model ECU it can be locked in which case the guys at DME can ot remotely tune it.
There are ways to find out if you have a locked DME, something you best know before ordering stuff.

Mine a 530e running with 383hp and 578Nm for few months already. If not mistaken, only running on 18psi. (I forgot but the tuner is stubbornly keep it safe he say). Did a trial run of about 4.5sec for 0-100kph

Only few things I did:

Dinan B Series Ignition Coils
FTP Charge Pipe and Short Intake Pipe
MST filter (sounds good)
Snowtech Heat exchanger
VRSF Catless downpipe
Tuning by Project A (Malaysia)

Amsoil full set (gear, engine, axle)

M340i brakes (make sure can stop better lol)

Its so much fun to drive compared to normal and the top speed did touch close to 300. Never tried max. I'm getting old....

I am going the whole IPOS 450 route, the includes new turbo, intake manifold, etc. With the price of what I paid for the car, it’s still cheaper than a stock 540i.

Funny thing is from what I seen, most 540 owners barely do FBOs on this forum. I will easily push 450whp and the b48 will hold.
