I recently upgraded from a 2012 535i non msport but it did have the sport package which included msport suspension that would get looser under comfort mode and stiffer in sport mode and was customizable in the nav screen. My new 2020 530i m sport that obviously comes with msport suspension doesnt have any suspension adjustment whatsoever in sport mode and the suspension is still just as loose as comfort mode. Did BMW change this or is it just because I have the 530i and they just dont allow suspension adjustment in this lower model? Kind of a let down, I really liked my ability to adjust to stiffer suspension in my 535i.

You need vdc or the more advanced adaptive drive to be able to change the suspension setting. Passive obviously cannot be changed. Assume your previous perhaps vdc?

No the only options on my F10 was sport, premium, technology packages. Nothing with adaptive suspension just the standard button to switch from comfort+, comfort, sport, sport+. And when I select sport or sport+ I could go in and select if I wanted to use comfort or sport suspension. New options when I switch to sport mode doesnt have an option to change suspension at all. I figured with the new cars you could get adaptive suspension which constantly changes the damping but you could still go in to select sport or comfort damping manually like my F10 if you didnt order adaptive. Maybe my old car had VDC standard or something? No idea but its not on the option list.

Ok I just figured it out. The G30 530i only has adaptive suspension as an option but the 540i is the first model that allows you to add DDC which is the new VDC. Just curious why they charge so much more for the M sport package for the 530i vs the 540i ($5000 vs $3500) and give you M sport suspension but not allow you DDC which you would get with the 540i M sport. So I paid $5000 for the M sport package with M sport suspension thats soft as hell.

If your F10 had any kind of suspension adaptation, that was an option. The basic M sport suspension on the F10 was not adaptable, just like the basic M sport suspension on the G30. Was your F10 some sort of final version, special edition - made just before the F10 finished production where they give extra options as standard? I ask because I know that the basic M sport suspension in the 'normal' F10 was just regular, non-adaptable coil springs and shocks.

Basic M sport suspension on the g30 is firmer than adaptive suspension in the F10 even in sport mode. I had an F10 with VDC and even in sport mode, it was much softer than my G30 was with basic M sport suspension. I even upgraded the springs on that car to ACS to try and firm it up and it still exhibited roll at much lower speeds than my G30 ever did.

Now if we are comparing an F10 with VDC+ARS (or whatever the nomenclature is for active roll bar stabilisation) to basic M sport in a G30, then the VDC+ARS car may have had the handling advantage as it won't exhibit as much body roll.
