No more M550?

Correct me if I am wrong but I was looking over all the new 2024 models and a M550i Xdrive was no where to be found?

Correct no v8 unless you wait for the m5

Performance wise the i5m60 is it’s replacement

Nearest ice you will get to m550 will be a 540 if that’s offered where you are, for example we don’t get it in the U.K.

Brilliant...As other companies are slowing down the manufacturing of EV's. Apple just announced the other day that they cancelled their EV program after a decade of investment. Toyota chairman stated he didn't see EV's ever going past 30% of market share.

i heard that car is very twitchy to drive near the limit, can you confirm?

PS - i have a soft spot for V5 engines eg the RS3 - because if you do the exhaust it sounds just like a V10!

Saw a TV ad from a local Ford dealer touting their lease deals on the electric "Mustang" (a Mustang it most certainly is NOT!). They said they have 83 2023's in stock and ready to go! Makes me wonder how many 2024's they haven't sold!

Have you been to a Jeep dealership lately? They can't give away the EV Hybrid Wranglers.

For the most part, applause to the American car companies for not going all in on electric and still pumping out Hemi's and LS's.

The older generations were kind of awful. I wouldn't want one. This is a different ballgame. I know Dodge sent out a pre-release version of the Gen 5 to be tested and they screwed up the suspension setup. That was a cause for concern as it felt edgy to the drivers testing it.

To me, this thing feels planted and I know when the shit's going to hit the fan. It's no Porsche though... This thing is just raw stump pulling torque with plenty of mechanical traction out back. It'll bring a smile to your face....and no one else has one around me. Far and few between. They only made 442 2015's.

Yeh governments have. Coerced manufacturers to make ever more EVs. Some have adopted that more than others
I fear for jaguar who are I believe going to be all electric from 2025 I believe
Porsche Taycans are piling up at dealerships after they come back from leases
Saw a video the other day where a guy was trying to buy a Porsche gt3 and in order to get on the list had to buy 3 tacans , each £170000
When he looked at what they were worth to sell the next day with extra miles on other than delivery , he was offered £70000
A loss of £100k!

I guess we are now seeing EVs come off lease that we’re noughts 3 years ago when it was all the rage and private buyers seem to shying away from them
I only know of 2 people in my circle of friends / colleagues who bought a Ev and it was only because it was a cheap lease deal via a company scheme.

If you have to incentivise a product, doesn’t that tell you something? It was that good , it would sell itself?

Sorry that was a mini rant

Remember when Honda & Toyota didn't offer incentives of any kind? Now they're on the 0% interest and rebate bandwagon.

I just grabbed a 23 m550 knowing what was coming. It’s pretty sad that our choices will be so limited if you want a v8 and or a stick. Welcome to the bullshit new world order where they are banning gas stoves but I digress……

Chevy recently invested 854 million for the 6th generation of its V8.
American muscle will be around for a long time.

The us obviously not affected as much by legalisation like here in the EU ( and Uk)
This year manufactures have to produce 22% of their cars to be EVs and that percentage increases as the years go by
Otherwise they are fined £ 15k per vehicle

there's always Mazda, they just made a new 3.3 I6 and an 8-speed multiplate gearbox (not a torque converter auto) and planted in the new CX-90

I was stationed in the UK for 3.5 years. People here in the USA think the Government is too much in their "business". Take a trip over the pond and find out what it's REALLY like !

Dodge dumped the V8 Chargers and Challengers.

Chevrolet dumped the Camaro, but retained the Corvette with V8 power.

Ford recommitted to the V8 especially in the Mustang and their Dark Horse variant …..and there are plans to produce a Shelby V8 model in the future.

The V8 is disappearing or is already gone with some manufacturers.

I heard that BMW and some other European manufacturers are rethinking the EV push and is testing Hydrogen cars again. Any truth to this?

I certainly feel that there is now some pushback as regards this. Pre covid I saw a hydrogen x5 at the Munich motor show which was due to be released but nothing has come of it so far.
These are businesses and at the end of the day if they can’t make money being restricted on selling cars that people don’t seem to want…..
