M550i - Eisenmann Axle Back
Had an Eisenmann axle back exhaust installed this week. As mentioned in my post in the classified section, I originally ordered a Remus a couple months ago, but the delivery date kept pushing back. Switched to Eisenmann based a handful of online clips, talking to Ryan at IND...and because it was in stock.
I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase. The exhaust sounds incredible, with a deeper tone overall and the perfect amount of volume increase (for me). In comfort, the sound comes through while driving around town much more than stock. Sport plus sounds great as well. The additional volume increase couples with some pops and burbles. Cold start is loud, but not over the top. For a mid-40s dad in a quiet neighborhood, it's the perfect balance of letting the V8 sound come to life, without being too aggressive. I uploaded a couple clips, one at home in the driveway and one in the garage at work. The video sound quality is just OK. It doesn't capture the fullness of the sound or the volume (it understates them both). In the garage for example, the noise fills up the entire floor and the pops/bangs echo up a level or two. Hopefully the clips give some idea of the difference to stock though. Let me know if you have any questions. DM me as well if preferred. Last edited by jbhx5; 10-24-2021 at 08:30 PM.. |

Thanks for sharing, sounds really nice!
like you say recordings are never true to reality, especially with exhaust noise; being a early 40s dad myself i can appreciate your comment. How is it for long drives on the highway ? Does it get tiring or is it close to stock? I like your diffuser by the way, I'm looking for the same, where did you get it? Do you know by any chance if it clears the trailer hitch ? Thanks !

Hi, do you have Race or Sport version? I bough race and still waiting for it to come. Race is without approval here in poland so i guess it has to be loud

I'm not the OP but when I was looking, I didn't see it delineate from the two on the website.
On my invoice it says Race, I would assume OP's is the same. https://ind-distribution.com/product...330cd03f&_ss=r |

Answering a few of the questions above.
- I haven't taken it on a road trip yet. Driving around Houston highways (60mph - 80mph), if you pay attention to the exhaust sound, you can tell it's a little louder. But with anything on the radio, or at higher speeds with road noise, it doesn't sound that different from stock. It's there, but not annoying or intrusive. - Diffuser is off of eBay. Not sure about the trailer hitch. https://www.ebay.com/itm/14406035757...sAAOSwOFpgti9T - Yes, tips are the brushed chrome LeMans tips. Will coat them satin black at some point, but not in a rush. Plan to enjoy the slow mod. - Install went smoothly other than needing to make a small trim to the new diffuser. Tips are just a hair too wide, so the shop had to cut a little from the edge of the exhaust cut out. - Agree with beyondm3, there's only one version on the IND website. Update: reached out to confirm with IND. Eisenmann only offers one version for the M550i (in the U.S. at least), the valved sport version. Last edited by jbhx5; 10-25-2021 at 02:44 PM.. |

Ohhhh...it definitely hurt. And so does filling up at the pump these days. But, after a month and a half with the car, I'm absolutely loving it. And the new exhaust takes it to a whole new level for me. I'm was excited to drive into work this morning, and then excited to drive to lunch today. Hopefully that doesn't get old.
