Amen. G30 is the best looking face in the family. Especially the LCI but I'm biased.

Short answer: the reliability and repair costs scare the heck outta me. I can't ignore what I've seen, heard and experienced with how these high-end German cars become money pits once the warranty period runs out (and I don't want to deal with extended warranties either), so I strictly lease.

Fair enough
I’m hanging onto mine but with eyes open that as the years go on , I expect to pay potentially some high costs to keep it going

For me, the 5 series (e34, e39, e60, f10, g30) has always been the definition of a proper balance between driving engagement, performance and comfort.

Haven't driven a g60 yet but I think it could be similar to the e60 when it will eventually grow on me, but for now, no thanks.

I drove an i5 M60 and it’s neat but not for me. I do want to drive the 540 when it comes out and also the hybrid version. Just to see how it compares. Hard to really compare an M550 and an i5 M60. Totally different experiences and you either like one or both or you don’t.

This is literally the first car I have ever bought an extended warranty for. It's that special. I am usually in the camp of, "I don't drive a BMW out of warranty". (exception of my classic 2003 E39). I have made a habit of trading right before the CPO expires at 100k miles. I really want to keep this car, so I bought some peace of mind. Looking forward to seeing how much peace this peace of mind purchase brings. Haven't used it yet.

This may be the best looking G60 I’ve seen yet sans the ///M-Performance stripe. Side skirt, lip and diffuser package look good on this color. All that said, G30 is still King by a wide margin.

That back screams Camry. The dealer called me when my car was in for service and said we would love to put you in a I5, told him,nah I’m good. Not going to trade this V8 beast for a battery, lol.

I wondered if time might change my opinion on the g60
It hasn’t
I still think the styling is awkward and the proportions just not quite right
I’ve seen more reviews and the interior along with gimmicks in it really isn’t working for me.

I’m just so glad I have my m550
Over here in the U.K. the oil service interval is 19000 miles/2 years but I am getting the oil changed outside of that. I want to hang on to this car as it gives me so much pleasure

Is there anything in the g60 I like?
Well the only thing I can think of are some enhancements to the driving assistant
Other than that, I don’t see any advantages over what I have.

It’s a fine car. I’m sure they’ll do well with the public. But it’s a different car. It’s not an evolution of the G30. Every time I climb in my M550 I think “damn I love this f-ing car”. I’m going to drive it about 1,400 miles in a weekend soon. I can’t wait.

No! That’s not what I was saying. I’m saying it’s less ugly than any other G60 I’ve seen, but still ugly.

I don't know about that. I read somewhere that they're accumulating on dealer lots. I have seen all of ONE in my city thus far, which is chock full of BMWs and luxury cars. Even some YouTube reviewers who rarely say anything negative have dumped on its design. I'm very curious to see the sales figures for this model.

Enjoy your road trip, it will be amazing!

I’m with you. I think BMW is going to lose its shirt and market position (overall) on the entire “i” full court press initiative. The iX 5.0 I had as a loaner yesterday with 150 miles on it stickered at $95,000. There are a lot better EV options in that price point that aren’t ugly and are more luxurious.

I’ve seen quite a few reviews for the g60 now
Most seem to be generally favourable, the only 2 that seemed to have tumbled the g60 are Joe Achilles and Harry metcalfe ones
A lot of negative comments about these 2 reviews but I personally think they have picked up on matters that others have failed to see
Namely range, lower quality in places and price.

I’m not totally anti g60 and will concede that the m60 is fast, the ride may well be good (removing runflats has no doubt helped there) and that’s it quiet, again normal tyres may have som bearing on it and that electric will obviously be quieter

But if you take out the styling as it’s subjective, I still don’t see the whole package as a compelling upgrade , especially at that price

The g30 has I think really refined what bmw was good at.

I’ve only see 1 g60 out in the wild to date on the motor way and even there , it looked large

It’ll be interesting to see which models sell and by how much
I’m the U.K., we don’t get any 6 cylinder models, so for those currently with a 530d, 540 or even a 550 there is no obvious compatible ice model. To match that performance you’ll have to go electric

As a m550 owner , the m60 is the obvious candidate but I just couldn’t entertain it . I don’t have a charger at home so don’t want to have to east my time finding a charger and spending time waiting for it to charge, that’s hardly convenient which is the whole point of the car.
Range is just not enough to be comfortable with. I can easily get 400 miles or more out of my 550 for a tank

AutotopNL also had a sour reaction to the design inside and out. I haven't seen other reviews because I am so disinterested in the G60. I reckon those who absolutely want a 5 series, and a brand new one at that, will swallow the pill. But I hope people vote with their wallets and this is another Bangle moment for BMW (still cringe at the Bangle design every time I see it on the road, but admittedly looks far better than the G60...which is saying a lot ).

Ah yes ,forgotten about that review. He’s definitely a g30 fan. In fact his review of the m550 was very favourable , I think he preferred it to the m5

I've seen a few on the Autobahns over here. Followed one the other day. I can't say I like them, but with the M-kit they look ok.

As so often with modern BMWs, I suspect the wagon will look better than the sedan, and I think the general design works better in the metal then in photos.

As for the interior, I could never live with it. I am no fan of the I-podization of everything.
