A few winter upgrades in progress…the persuite to 2900 continues…

Took out 30ish pounds from the front end of the car… adding a lightweight battery. That’s another 60 pounds.

Weight before I started is below, will know updated weight shortly

Also upgrading several of the coolers. Took the front end apart to work on this. Can’t believe how heavy the factory cooling fan is; over 33 pounds. Ouch…need to figure out an alternative here and take out another 20 or so pounds at some point.

Added bimmerworld / CSF charge cooler, and bimmerworld / PWR oil cooler…bimmerworld / PWR aux coolers on order. Will replace these soon as well.

While at it, removed the AC compressor and pulleys…trolaced the belt with a shorter one.

Do also have the fuel starvation kit, this will be installed shortly as well.

Finally while at it…replacing the upper radiator brace to a slon carbon piece. A few more pounds saved here…

Here a few pics…of the work in progress. More soon.

I also just did an AC delete. To save more weight I went with the engine delete.

How did you remove 30 pounds from the front of the car?

yes...a few more then 30

22# from AC compressor
2-3 # by removing the extra pulleys
3ish # by cutting the metal bracket around the air ducts
5 # by replacing the top radiator brace to carbon
Some ounces, lighter oil cooler

Definitely adding 2-3 due to the larger radiator capacity...

However, the heaviest thing left in the front is the factory fan...28#'s. A spal fan or similar is less then 10 #'s.

A spal fan should be significantly lighter, the only thing is it may not move as much CFM as the OEM fan

Weekend update…almost back together.

Waiting for the slon carbon top radiator bracket arriving this week…and the MCS’s from service. Couple of weeks before heading out for a test and tune day at Willow Springs…

On a separate note…did manage to take out a few additional #’s.

Looks like a little light peeking through around the radiator and oil cooler (unless they’re reflections). Might be worth sealing those up. There’s a high temp silicone foam I’ve ordered from EBay that works great as it’s compressible.
