It was great watching this black ///M8 win the race.

The battle with the #911 car was the only part of the race I got a chance to watch, but definitely my favorite part of the highlight reel. Good race!

Thanks! We want to hit Petit LeMans if we can sometime soon. Seems like a great venue.

I have to say seeing how far the BMW drove into the corners so much deeper than the 911's and the Vettes was very noticeable at certain spots. It wasn't every time, but it was most of the time. It was very apparent at two main spots on the track; IMSA turn 1 after coming off NASCAR 3 and 4 and the front-stretch into the infield and at IMSA turn 8 going into the bus stop after coming out of NASCAR 1 and 2 and down part of the back-stretch. The M8 just went into those turns so much deeper consistently throughout the race. Just my non-professional, non-technical observation...

I was at the race and would disagree this was an easy win. The M8 was only faster on the banking, especially from the bus stop to turn 1 than the Porsche’s and Corvette’s. Both those cars were much better on the brakes and infield than the BMW’s. Ultimately it was fuel strategy that got them ahead in the last hour. It was a great race to watch, but actually doesn’t bode well for the M8 the rest of the season as there strength will be limited to courses with long straight aways.

It is interesting that Crohn ran a 1:42 in his last stint, but I think that had more to do with pushing hard at the end to stay ahead and no longer needing to save the car than sandbagging. The Porsche’s are stout and will likely dominate the rest of the year.

From my observation Turn 1 and Turn 8 is the only location that the M8 didn’t necessarily lose time to the competition, but generally speaking both the Porsche and Corvette seemed better on the brakes. The Porsche had better drive off the corners except for out of the bus stop where the M8 really shone and carried that speed all the way to turn 1.

^ finally someone who actually knows what happens

this was definitely not a BOP race and IMSA used the M8 as the baseline car to determine BOP. they really did shine with pace on the long straights when they could put the power down. but this will be an interesting year since there's not many tracks where they can power themselves to a podium like Road Atlanta and MoSport (assuming they have favorable BOP for those races)
