Squeaking Breakes on a Month Old Lease (3k Mi Demo)

I just lease a demo unit from out of market dealer (200 mi away). It already had ~3k mi on it.

Brakes are making loud squeaking noise when slowing it between 10-0 mph speed. (link:
)

I was not expecting brakes to make this loud noise. I am new to BMW and my understanding is BMW covers everything BUT brakes and tires. I called the selling dealer. He is asked me to bring it to their shop or take it to the closes one. Nearest dealer said they will charge for looking into.

Can you advise what is best recourse to fix the brakes from squeaking so loud on BMW tap?

Thanks

Does it squeak regularly?

BMW US warranty will cover this. The exclusion you're thinking of is for maintenance (wear) purposes. This issue is a manufacturing or product defect.

That said, don't be surprised if dealer tells you some squeaking is "normal".

I think it gets very loud during dry weather in TX.

I am afraid of this too.

Any recommendations for pushing back the dealer if they label it normal but I find abnormally loud.

Appeal to them nicely works best.

Why would they charge for looking into it? There shouldn't by any charges for looking into anything while your new car warranty is in effect. Even if it ultimately is determined the problem is a non-covered part. You shouldn't have any "diagnostics fee" because BMW will cover that.

demo units obviously get driven a little harder in break in than they should be. Brakes were probably not "bedded" properly (light braking only for the first couple hundred miles i believe is what the manual states). Not a big deal really as squeaking can happen regardless, but might be more likely if brakes weren't eased in from new. I wouldn't worry too much about it, its not anything that affects performance. There might be a "rebedding" process that can be done? I'm sure someone has a solution....

That is my thought as well. Perhaps the rotors got glazed. Find an empty road and try a few hard stops to see if it cleans off the rotors.

That is interesting. We have really loud brake squealing on our 18 X5 too. BMW replaced front brakes two weeks, ago, but it is still really bad. Actually hurts your ears and louder than your video, if you can believe that! Recorded it this time and going to take it in on Wen.

Never had it happening on my G30 though, knock on wood.
