Something is ticking that can be heard inside the car

Hi all, I'm driving a BMW 530i G30 2019 and have noticed a strange ticking sound in the cabin when my revs are below 1k and when the car is not warmed up. After the coolant warms up, the sound disappears. Following by the link you can hear a strange ticking sound and when I press the accelerator the clicking goes away. Has anyone had the same problem or have any advice?

No it is not the tune. It can be engine mounts, can you isolate where the noice is coming from? Engine bay or under the car?

I’d say it is coming from engine bay, but need to say that when I opened car hood, I didn’t hear that ticking. And also after the engine is warmed up and revs are under 1k I didn’t hear the sound. If it’s engine mounts than I should hear this ticking every time, isn’t it?

Ticking can be a loose connection on the exhaust. Since your noise goes away as things warm up (and thermal expansion takes place), I'd start at the aftermarket parts and make sure everything is bolted up correctly.

Do you mean that I need to check does everything is bolted correctly under the car?

and there you go. That certainly could be it.

Also, lifters (valvetrain) and fuel injectors can make a ticking sound, but fuel injector noise wouldn't disappear after the car warms up.

Does the lifters tick is something critical that can affect the lifetime of the engine?

Maybe this video will help. If you have something different/louder, it can be some worn parts in the valvetrain causing a gap...causing them to slap together producing the ticking sound. How many miles on your engine? What weight oil are you using?

Another video....the guy runs the engine in neutral at 3000 rpms for 3 minutes, allowing the lifters to pump back up. He states this is the procedure the dealers do for ticking lifters. Ticking was gone after that procedure. I've been wrenching on cars for years and never saw something this ridiculous before. Too funny...I understand why it works though...but for how long?

My engine has 33k miles on it. I used the typical oil for this machine 5w30 LL01. I just watched the videos you recommended and I want to say that the clicking noise I heard in the cabin does not appear on every cold start. I would say the clicking sound doesn't occur when starting the car, it can occur if I drive 200-300 meters after starting and when I brake and the revs are less than 1k I hear this sound but it is random. Could you tell me valvetrain or lifter tick is it something critical that need to be fixed?

Hey gang, a related question: Do BMW engines still use hydraulic valve adjustment? And which ones? Most modern engines quietly remove them, and now require valve lash inspection at 60K miles. Thank you.

Check all of the aftermarket parts that were installed.

Okay, probably I isolate where the noise is coming from and it’s coming from under the car
