Reset Gearbox

So, just picked up my 540i X Drive and I wanted to know if you can reset the gearbox.

I know the car adapts and learns your driving behaviour and as this car isn't brand new, just wondering if its worth resetting it, if its even possible?

Ive found that you can do this:

* Press the start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
* Press the accelerator down to the floor for at least 25 sec.
* Hit start button once to turn off power
* Remove foot from accelerator
* Wait for min. 2 minutes
* Start the engine and drive

anybody know if this works? Or is there is another way to do it?

This doesn't work. There's no way to manually reset trans or engine adaptations by using the pedal. The only use of the pedal in that situation is to perform the service function to bleed the cooling system.

If you really want to clear adaptations take it to the dealer and pay 1.0 labor and have them perform the service function to reset the transmission adaptations. Could also ask for engine adaptations reset too.

You can reset the trans with CarlyApp.

So, I managed to get the gearbox reset and tbh, i didn't notice any difference.

A few weeks later, the car went back to the dealers for a full software update (iDrive was out of date and had some faults with the reverse camera) and this has made the biggest different to the gearbox although I've no idea why...
