Twisties, tunnels, bridges and trains. Hwy 70 through the Feather River Canyon in Northern California has it all!

I've been lurking in this thread for a LONG time and I've admired all of your photos that have been posted here. Y'all seem extremely friendly and helpful and I hope to receive honest C&C and to ultimately grow as a 'budding' photographer. This is the beginning of my journey as I just picked up a T6i and a few lenses; I aim to fit right in over time, although I know there's tons to learn I may never be on the same level, I'm going to give it my best and step up and share as much as I can only to hopefully find some knowledge shared in return.. Mostly I believe my subjects will be car shows and nature, but if you have some suggestions to get more experience behind the camera, I'm definitely open to it. (I got to play with shutter speed and some exposure with these water features on this hike, this was one of my favorites).

Let me know what y'all think!

Good effort. It seems a little under-exposed to me, but it's hard to know unless you're there. I'd crop it 2:1 to cut out those legs and feet at the top. They're a major distraction. The long crop would also put more focus on the falls, which is were all the interest is.

Keep posting.

My 7D2 is not my go to landscape camera, nor is my Sigma ultra zoom, but I had the combo with me shooting trains and I thought this was a cool scene.

The absolute best camera for any situation or opportunity is the one who have with you.

And that's a great shot, regardless of gear.

I'll see if I can get lightroom up and going again, I don't have a lot of experience in post production either but I'll give it a go and hopefully have it done for tomorrow. I have one other one with a bit warmer colors, we'll see if that one works out after cropping. I sincerely appreciate your feedback!

Here's one for the mean time:

This one seems perfectly exposed and loaded with detail and great light. I'd crop out much of the dead space at the top and crop out that OOF stuff at the lower left; otherwise, it's ready to go.

Try different aspect ratios, but I think that 2:1 would work here again.

Congrats on the new body.

If you're going to get better than you are now, then I can't wait to see the improvement.

I took about 100 hummingbird shots, and I don't feel comfortable sharing any of them anymore. That's freaking astonishing, I'll have to work on them.

PS: Dave, I framed up those shots, and they made huge difference. I'm not sure if they're worthy of re-posting or the etiquette for the thread, but I've got them laying around for future use. Your advise was on point.

Stunning hummingbird shot. Really stellar.

And not to give too much credit to the gear, a D5 and an 800mm lens make for a really sweet rig.

Thanks. Actually a 600 with a TC 1.4. Just put the tripod up next to my patio table as I worked from home and snapped a quick shot before the little bugger flew away. I will do better as more flowers start to bloom.

Strange rendering of the flowers though. Might have been the harsh light.
