Aluminium Rhombicle

Does anyone have a close up of this interior trim - or have you seen it in the flesh? I have it on order in my M Sport with Cognac leather and catalogue pictures suggests it works just fine; not a fan of wood finishes in sporty cars, and don't think the Piano Black (which I currently have) would work with that leather/general interior?

I have a G30 MSport on order, initially with rhombicle trim.
I liked it on picture but went to the dealership to see it in person and I must say I was disappointed. Looked tacky imo.
Switched to finewood ridge instead.

If that is the standard m sport trim then it was on a car I saw at the weekend.
Not great in my opinion and worse than the aluminium hexagon on the older m sport.
Very plasticky and kinda tacky looking.
Looks like it could also mark easily.

Too bad this is the only alu trim option with the M sport package. No more fine line alu trim like on the F10.

Personal opinion I guess, FWIW I thought the Alu hex looked ok.
Piano black looks great on the demo I saw but that's a lot of beer they are asking for that, not worth it in my book

Cheers for the pics...looks better than some previous BMW aluminium trims, but then the picture doesn't really show texture

Thanks to all for the feedback, looks like opinion is divided but I think my production may be locked so fingers crossed that it will not annoy me every day!

I saw it in person with mocha leather and I tought it looked very good, wood is outdated, like cars from the sixties had wood, the aluminum looks very good and sportier, I ordered mine with the Aluminum Rhombicle, always had wood in the past.

Yes, as I mentioned earlier my instinct is that wood has no place in a modern sporty (note, not sports) car...otherwise I could have bought Jags, Range Rover or, shudder, a Merc!

I liked the aluminum in person and will probably choose it with the blue leather for my next 5 for a change of pace. The metal may also show off the interior light colors better than wood, if you're into that. Anything but burl walnut, unless your modern luxury sedan must look like a 19th century drawing room.

Not upscale enough for a 5'er imo. First thing I've ever done with aluminum and aluminum hex trims in my past bmw's was replace it with carbon fiber or anything else...

I think that it looks spectacular. I like it a lot because it is new and modern. On the new 20018 E Class Coupe at the Chicago Auto Show Mercedes Benz showed ivory leathers an aluminum trim that looked uber spectacular. I have aluminum hex trim on my 2014 5er and I never tire of it.

Wood is great if you want to do Noel Coward impressions while driving, otherwise no place on a modern car.

Looks awesome!!! if you want a sporty 5 this is the way to go. I ordered it with a Black interior and the gray piping in the seat adds an even sportier look to the interior.

Looks pretty sweet to me. I don't like regular old brushed aluminum trim it is too plain and uninteresting in my eyes.

Picked up my G30 in carbon black with Aluminum Rhombicle and I have to see I love it.

It meshes very well with the black/blue stick interior that I have. Wouldn't change it for wood anyday.
