Don't worry it's normal you actually don't have acceleration sensors in a 530e even with VDC.
They are used on the higher models with variable roll bars etc and are a sensor mounted on each shock arm that add additional up down measurements. your wheel rotation sensors under DSC are correct not turning when parked etc so your all ok from what I see. |

Saturday received my replacement (used from Poland) VDP computer - will be replacing it Wednesday...
So hopefully these will correct some of these values - as there seem quite some discrepancies. |

So today replaced the ECU. Had some flashing issues initially, but I think that had todo with the transport mode that was still on. After injecting the CAFD coding, and then reflashing seemed to resolve that.
Anyway, I succeeded eventually, cleared the errors and set the ride height. All dampers now give a current consumption, also in park (some a bit higher than others). Drive was indeed alot different, alot smoother (at comfort), and alot more sensitive in sport mode. Whether my vibrations are fully fixed I'm unable to tell yet, as my car also sat for a week (then my tires always need some time to become fully round again ). Got a long drive planned for tomorrow, so then would be able to comment on that.... Thanks for your assistance along the way! Regarding your sensor, it for me also today stated something like signal unreliable, similar to your screencap. It might be "normal" behavior... Difficult to say for sure. |

Good to hear it's improved.
Weird your sensor now shows as unreliable wish I had checked mine before installing the new VDP module. Anyone else able to check this that also has VDC? |

Just bumping this.
Is there anyone out there or even better a few people who can check in ISTA if their longitudinal sensor in DSC module is showing as "signal value is unreliable"? See attached last line on right in image below. I ask as it seems that VDC may be relying on this signal via the ACSM to control the variable dampers. I'm my mind this makes sense as the front shock hits an uneven surface the rear receives a signal to adjust but to do that at the correct time it needs both reliable longitudinal acceleration and speed inputs. If that sensor is off as in my case (it seems to be out by -3.4km) then the rear won't adjust in time and will actually adjust after the disturbance resulting in a prolonged stability disturbance. I think this may be what's happening to a lot of VDC cars the VDP fails and/or the longitudinal sensor. We already have both me and Mike with the issue and two local drivers here in Ireland have contacted me with the same problem. Did BMW push an iStep that corrupted something? I bet a ton of VDC cars have this same problem, there is a huge number of people complaining on posts of vibrations and bad ride quality and many of them have VDC. In my case both. My car is 90% better with the new VDP but I'm changing the longitudinal sensor this weekend as it's showing as unreliable. |

Answered this myself changed the sensor no difference.
Went for a drive while scoping the sensor and after a few meters the sensor becomes reliable go figure. Only cost me 20 Euro. So my car is now perfect or as close to perfect variable Damper wise as it can be. I still find the in town ride on 20s not great it just feels too much road imperfections but at any speed over 40km the ride is now perfect. |

Mike I would like to know if you VDC current to the 4 dampers ever goes above 2 mAmps.
My car still feel like one shock is stuck in sport mode and I noticed that the front left is getting 3ma and all others 2 ma. I read online that max should be 2ma. Intersted to see what yours read at standstill or low speed. This front left shock feeds back info to the back left and both feel harder than the right of the car. Vertical acceleration sensors are only in 550 and M5s.
The lateral and longitudinal sensors are combined in the B pillar but I doubt that's your issue I changed both of mine and have two perfectly good ones here if your Europe based can sell to you for cheap if you want to change them. The ACSM also states it has same sensors internally but I don't believe that as why put the same in the B pillars also. |
