steering wheel not returning to set position

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
when I exit the car, my steering wheel moves out of the way so I can exit easily. when coming back in the car, after starting the week only moves marginally back into place....

I tried searching but couldn't find much. I removed my driver profile and re-added it... but that didn't help.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you get the "...discharge while stopped..." message? Could be a dying battery or (most likely) a parasitic draw; which is usually caused by a faulty comfort access door actuator.

If not, I got nuthin'...

Check the fuses and reset the steering wheel memory.

Honestly, this has been an intermittent issue on my last 7 or 8 BMW's. Just put it back where you like it and set the memory again. Not sure why BMW's lose the steering wheel memory so often.

I stopped searching specifically for the G30 and started to realize there is a lot more data on it from older models.

I searched for steering wheel reset procedures and found a thread that said to move the steering wheel all the way up and all the way down to "re calibrate" so the mechanism knows exactly where the wheel is.

I also read to put the steering wheel in place and lock/unlock the car to teach the FOB the new location. So I sat within the car and did just that this morning as well.

Lo and behold, my steering wheel moved back into position when I took off for work. It would seem my problem is fixed but I have only tested it once.

Additionally, I did both of these procedures back to back so I cannot isolate which one exactly did the trick.

Yeah, most of those should work too, but I just hit "MEM" and then "1" on my memory panel and it sticks for a while.
