As the OP, looking forward to pics as well. Karmakels first reply with pics looked good but I'm interested to get other voices, particularly whether there is any texture (3D effect) rather than just a print. My order is Med Blue with Cognac and I've seen a couple of pics with that combo and it looks good visually from a distance, just wondered what it's like close up. I had the Fine Aluminium trim a few cars ago and did notice that it was susceptible to marks so hopefully this is more robust.

On a philosophical note, aren't these first world problems? I justify them by posturing that spending money generates business, employment, wealth...which in turn advances economies, etc etc... Won't solve world inequality directly but maybe indirectly, sometime.. Off topic I know, just saying..

Your black interior with the alu rhombicle looks good. Is the rhombicle trim very shinny and reflective when sun is hitting it? Hope not. Don't like shinny trim, wood or alum.
Here's a pic from BMW site of the rhombicle on Mocha Nappa leather, which would be my choice. |

Alu Rhombicle
I'm with MMY on this one i.e. no way would I have wood in a sports or sporty car....maybe in an old Jag.
So I'm left with the choice between the new Rhombicle and piano black. Would naturally have gone for the previous (but no longer available on the 550i) aluminium-look however my better-1/2, during a show-room visit, immediately said "ooh that looks a little cheap versus the rest of the interior". Now she knows not much about cars, but she likes expensive-looking presents, plus, she is always right. So I'm going for the piano black, will just have to buy some effective cleaner and wipe too.

You'll need the wipes for the glossy surround on the AC centre console and around the gear lever anyway!!! I had Piano Black on my previous F10 but wasn't prepared to spend €1000 on it so Rhombicle works fine for me, far better than brushed aluminium in an earlier car.

Know it's an old thread but wanted to share that the aluminum rhombicle looks stunning in person and pictures don't do justice. Initially was thinking of going with one of the non-shiny wood trims but aluminum blew me away, especially in the evening time with all the accent lighting. It is not shiny and the pattern makes it look both sporty and classy. I hated brushed aluminum so was not even thinking about it before I saw it in person.

It makes the car 'not appear to be trying too much' like understated elegance. This is contrary to the impression I got in a G30 with piano trim and cognac interior. Just my personal opinion

I don't have photos, but sat in an M550i at a dealership with black leather and the aluminum rhombicle trim, and didn't really like it. The pattern just looked cheaper and made the interior feel more cold.

I took delivery 3 weeks ago of a 540i with Moccha Nappa and Aluminum Rhombical...it looks fantastic. Provides a nice contrast between the dark leather and the black dash that most of the wood trim options didn't. Looks and feels great with the texture and doesn't look cheap.
