2022 M550 First Days Review
I have had ther car a couple of days but came out of a '19 M550. The following misses by BMW are a disppointment. I have had at least one BMW in my collection for 25 years.
I have air coolers in the front seats. The Nappa leatehr is perforted. The rear seating premium upgraded leather is not. It is smooth and not perforated, it does not match. I now have a cable cluterring my cockpit to KEEP my phone charged as the wireless charging is gone. I realize that it would not charge a dead phone but learned quickly that it KEPT a charge on my phone. I find that I close the doors softly forgetting soft close doors are no longer there to pull it shut softly. The HUD which i keep to a minimum of clutter now has a speed limit sign next to the speed traveled as most minimal display. The call log has decreased significantly. The BMW recmmended PPF was not only istalled porrly with crease and orange peel (not on them) but the template has the seams meeting in the MIDDLE of the front air dam turrets. Very visible. Don't get me wrong the car is great and I love it as my daily driver and sleeper. But BMW has dropped the ball on it's details. I tried to upload some picks bu had an issue. I will share when I can get them up. BLK/BLK/Open Pore Grey/Blue capers. Last edited by scsfll; 09-25-2021 at 09:50 PM.. Reason: Typo |

The things you mentioned are just a few of the reasons that I won't be trading in my 2019 for quite some time if ever.

Soft close doors have been gone for a few model years now. I'm not sure I'm tracking on your backseat comments. Are you saying you have Nappa leather but you don't have the stitching in the rear? I've never heard anyone say this was the case. Rear seats aren't cooled so I wouldn't expect them to be perforated. Wireless charging is definitely an annoying one but thats a supply chain issue. The rest of the items I'm not sure what the issue is and sound like they would mostly be idrive 7 related I guess?

The leather SHOULD match all throughout. Even though they stopped cooling the rear seats it looks like a cluster #@$% with perforated leather for the cool air to come out on the surfaces of the front seats and non-perforated (solid) leather on the back seats. if you look into the car the front and rear seat surfaces are different and do not match.
The wireless charger is not due to chips but due to the fact that the charger did not charge the phone. I did discover that there is a tradionatal USB pluge where the charger used to be BUT there is now the newer smaller USB plug in the console. |

The added HP is significnt to my '19. a great '21 would be the way to go. My dealer took my MSRP'd '19 (10/18 build)of $79k w/39k miles and is selling it 35 mos later with a published price of $62k.
I took back $4k when giving back my lease and a 4% discount on new one. Paying LESS with no $ out of pocket for same deal. |

I am glad I won’t be joining this cycle of upgrades. Every year seems to be worse than the year before it with a combination of deletions from the MY and supply chain issues.
I believe the Digital Key is also on the deletion list right now due to supply chain issues and that was a feature they spent big advertising money with Apple to showcase was on the LCI 5-Series. Quote:
Either way, the LCI headlights are a downgrade from the pre-LCI options. |

Front and Rear Seats '22 M550. Sloppy
Here are the pics of the front and rear seats with different surfaces. Yes I understand why there are peforations. No I don't understand why rear seat could not match even if BMW cheapened out and did not include cooling them in the package.
Also I thought it was worth a laugh that my car was delivered with these on the passenger seat. Did'nt even notice until someone went to sit in it a day later. The Expel PPF had creases and as noted the seams are now in the centers of the air dam turrets. Highly visible. The first attempt lef 1/4" gap at the seam. |

Soft close doors aren't stupid. If you've had them and don't anymore, you will miss them. I had them for 10 years in all my E65's, didn't have them in my F10 and now have them back in the G30. It's a luxury you get used to fast.
The new G30's don't have them because of parts shortage. They didn't do away with them per se. They are exclusive to higher end BMWs like the 7 series because of the shortage. Same for the wireless charger which require a chip. In terms of the Nappa front and rears not matching, this is nothing new. The fronts are pin cushioned for ventilation. I would not say they don't match though. They match nicely IMO. One is perforated and one isnt. Same stitching and piping. PPF has nothing to do with BMW. That's your dealer using a shitty detailer. Bring it back.

Soft Close doors are awesome. I have had it in my last 6 BMW's as well as 911. To your point if you've never had them you just don't get it.
Now Gesture Control is another story. DALEX, opinion on the seat difference? |

Could you elaborate on the Radar/Jammer install ?
I've been wanting to get a solid, reliable radar detector system installed that doesnt false alert from the sensors, etc. Was yours hard wired in or something ? Thanks, Mark (Nashua NH) |

Thanks.
Car is GREAT! Just picked up from dealer. RFT's off and real tires on. XPEL redone. It's ready to go.I work with the General Manager of the delership as the Owner is a client of mine. He shakes his head at the mismatch of leather. If you open the front and rear door and look in it gives you a brain hemhorrage. LOL. |
