Nope. Zero interest in still owning a 1978 Mazda GLC hatchback that I purchased used for $900. It was a 5-speed manual and my own personal mode of transportation so I was psyched about it at the time and just moving on to college. Didn't last very long and I had to junk it and get a new car after it had broke down on me in the middle of nowhere while driving home from college over a weekend. I eventually replaced it with a new Toyota Tercel coupe that was also equipped with a 5-speed manual. I loved it at the time. Sure beat the hell out of the Mazda.

Thank you! I've put quite a bit of work into along with modding it so I will definitely keep it for the next few years, even after I graduate college. My next project is to manual swap it. I feel extremely young when looking at some of the pictures in this thread lol.

Three on the tree '67 Dodge Dart. No, I do not wish I still had it. The only car I wish I still had was my 2001 530i. And maybe, on nice sunny days, my Z4.

I’ve owned lots of cars I still like and wouldn’t mind driving again. However when I did take a trip down memory lane (1974 2002tii) it felt really old and inadequate, which is not at all how I remembered it. So I’ll leave the others alone and keep the memories.
As to the first car I bought myself, a 1972 Ford Gran Torino Wagon? Hell no. I was done with that when I sold it and have never looked back. |

'79 Mercury Capri RS Turbo. This is me going to Graduation wearing my z-cavarichis and white jazz shoes... man the 80's had horrible clothes
I drove it with the 4cyl turbo for about a year, transplanted a 5.0, then a turbo. I searched for another 4 eye capri RS for a few years... Rust has killed most of them |

1st car
I bought a used 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza in 1967. 4-speed manual, 2-door with the base 95 HP air-cooled flat 6. I had a lot of fun with that car. I added tubing headers and dual exhaust which added some noticeable punch. I even managed to fix most of the annoying rattles. Heh!
This is a picture of the actual car right after I bought it, with proud new owner.

My sister’s first car was a ‘69 Dodge Dart but no three on the tree. She was a terrible driver ( she is a year younger than me, my first car was a ‘73 and her’s was a ‘69) That car was a tank. Good thing. Where we grew up there were elevated train tracks. I can’t tell you how many times she hit the “EL” posts. And that was just driving past them, not trying to parallel park around them.

Thank you. I'm glad my sister wanted to stay in the house, we grew up there. I also got a picture of my second car which I haven't digitized yet.

I'm taking old slides, projecting them on a proper screen and taking photos with my DSLR 35mm camera. The results are better than the crappy cheap slide converters that require a ton of post processing. Digitizing old photos and slides is a lot of work but worth it. Now I'm going to take on my old VHS tapes and 8mm films.

I bought my first car in 1987 – it was a 1980 VW Golf, registration no: OOY 116W.
Paid £650 for it, and loved that car to bits. It was bright red as in the pic below (that pic has been grabbed off the internet – but my car was almost identical) and looked like a GTI, even though it wasn’t, and only had a 1.1 litre engine lol. Nothing in terms of creature comforts, apart from a sunroof, which the pic below doesn't have. The car had a major problem, though: There was a water leak somewhere around the front windscreen/top of the engine compartment. So when it had been raining heavily, I’d get in the car, start driving away, and I’d get a torrent of water sloshing down onto my feet and the pedals! Got rid of it after that first rainy autumn. My next one after that was a Ford Escort XR3i, registration no: A285 WGC. Now that was a great car! |

Heck NO! 81 Mustang 4 banger with GT wannabe package, thing leaked more than the Exxon Valdez.
Had a killer Alpine pullout Radio with 2 home stereo speakers in the back until I could afford a real Kicker brand box and Rockford amp. Prelude was my 2nd car, graduation present. Like Joe T, I also rocked the Cavarricci’s but had the Velcro Black Reebok’s |

Nahhhh don't miss it. The Alfetta had outstanding balance because the gearbox was in the back but fuck me dead, the gear change was truly abysmal as a result. Had t double clutch 1st and 2nd, it was that bad.
The older Giulia i got a few years later had a MUCH better box. |

Ok, I read through all the posts and I think I may be the loser so far. My first car was a 1975 AMC Pacer, two-tone butterscotch over chocolate brown, similar to this inter web photo I pilfered except on mine the chocolate brown followed the body lines up over the roof (made it look like a big, ugly picnic basket). It had a straight six 232ci and floor shift manual 3 spd. The shifter was so worn that if you didn't get the 1-2 shift perfect it would jam in 2nd and you had to take the shifter apart and wiggle the shift rods into neutral so you could change gears. I kept a shifter tool kit on the floor in the back seat for when it jammed up. I got to the point where I could fix it in about 3 minutes on the side of the road. My older brother gave the car to me after thoroughly trashing it to the point where it ran on only four cylinders, barely, and the front suspension was so bent you couldn't let go of the steering wheel without immediately heading hard for the rhubarb. I had to pull the head off the motor and get it rebuilt...it was full of bent valves. I couldn't fix the front suspension because it turned out that he had bent the control arm mounts on the drinker's side so I got chummy with the guys at one of the local tire shops and had them save me any decent tires they came across that would fit. I needed to replace the front tires about every 6-800 miles because the front end was so messed up.
Do I wish I still had it? Nope! It burned down on the side of the road one day and I was not the least bit bothered. Fun Fact: The Pacer's passenger's doors were 4" longer than the driver's doors.
