Production Delays?

I just read an article indicating that BMW production is being impacted by the Ukraine crisis as it obtains vehicle wiring harnesses from a German supplier with manufacturing plants in the Ukraine.

I have a G30 scheduled for week 13 production. Has anyone heard any additional details about this issue and what delays this may cause at Dingolfing?

I haven’t heard about the delays, but I do have a week 12 build. Will keep you updated.

I read that BMW production plants in Munich and in Dingolfing will be off-line starting next week. It did not say how long, but until they can find a replacement for the wiring harnesses, probably for a while.

I do not know who bmw uses as a supplier for wiring harnesses. However, below are two major German based suppliers. Including Ukraine, they have facilities all over the world. If harnesses for these cars currently come from a Ukraine based plant, hopefully they can route that work to another facility. I suggest sitting tight and see what happens. In the meantime, pray for the people living in Ukraine.

Just called BMW genius, they said I am still on for week 12. They did confirm, as others mentioned above that the Munich plant is closing temporarily and they said BMW has not specified a re-open date.

I checked the M3-M4 pages as someone mentioned above. Some individuals who had week 11-13 builds are now pushed back to Week 15 and some as far as back as 18-20…

Just spoke to the dealership, apparently all the 5 series they have on order have gone to status 105.

They said to wait because it could change in a few days.

All the 5ers are built in Dingolfing, which is currently closed because of lack of wiring harnesses made in Ukraine.

Pretty sure our 2022 540i was built in Austria.

The 11th digit in the VIN indicates the factory.

Some G30 5-series are built in Austria.

C = BMW Dingolfing, Germany
W = Magna Steyr Graz, Austria

Or maybe not since it almost seems like our car wasn't even built by BMW.

Eh ... my G29 was built by MS and it's build quality is on-par with what I've received in the past from Dingolfing & Spartanburg

Don't get me wrong, we are thrilled with our 5'er no matter where it was built. Also, considering what we paid (well below MSRP) and the .9% financing and supply chain restraints, and PCD, we are blessed beyond words. And I don't use the word blessed often.

Has anyone that was confirmed for week 12+ received any confirmation of their build week since the factory closing?

I was confirmed for week 13 up until Monday (3/7), now just showing out of production.

I spoke with the dealer and genius line they said most 5 series they have seen are out of production, just checking if anyone here has received any good news...

My M550i was supposed to be scheduled for build 3/14/2022. On Monday, however, status went from 112 to 105. So I guess I’m in the same boat. I emailed my CA yesterday but haven’t heard back yet.

Yeah hopefully, they don't push us out too far forward or by some luck put us back on the same schedule...

On Monday 3/7 my week 13 build went back to 111 status. As of Friday 3/12 it was back to 112 status. BMW CSR confirmed week 13 production was the current status as of yesterday. It looks like its back on track, but who knows if that's true?

As usual, I will check the vehicle production status daily until the vehicle goes into 150 status, then impatiently await its VIN number assignment so I can stalk it onto a boat and daily track its journey at sea on Marine Traffic
