M550i gloss back rear badge

Where is the best place to buy one of these? I asked BMW today and apparently they don’t make an OEM black badge only chrome.

Looking for high quality black M550i badge not a cheap one that’s gunna break in 3 months.

Suggestions? Anyone had good luck with this product?

Many people had good luck with changing their badges to gloss black or matte!

I used IND. They’re painted OEM badges.

Any tips and tricks for removal and reinstalling? Seems vids and people say heat guys and fishing line or dental floss then a tar remover or some sort. I live in AZ and it’s currently 114 degrees outside so I could prob just peel my old ones off by hand lol.

Painters tape around current to maintain fitment blueprint. Heat gun or hair dryer to soften, floss to remove. Then goo gone or equivalent, clean up. Last step isopropyl right before installing new set. That’s how I did it.

Yeah, heat the entire thing going up and down a few times slowly before focusing on the first edge. Be sure to not sit in one spot long or use too high of heat.

One you get the fishing line started, as long as you’re keeping the heat gun one step ahead as you move down it’s pretty easy.

I would recommend a 3M adhesive remover wheel. It’s like a giant rubber eraser for the leftover residue. It cleans it off easily without scratching. Then do a normal polishing detail to clean it up before you install an aftermarket spoiler.

Yeah if your paint is in great condition after cleaning with alcohol solution, you could just install right away without any paint correction.

And good point on painters tape. It’s nice to have the starting point established. Same with new install, tape corners at the ends and use that as a marker once you start removing 3m tape backing.

I actually have a wrapped vehicle so I’m hoping that doesn’t cause any issues when I remove the spoiler and badges.

Probably gunna unwrap and xpel stealth ppf the bluestone metallic in a few months but for now it’s wrapped in mamba green.

That I don’t have any experience with. How did they wrap around the emblems in the first place? Probably removed them first and then applied them after wrap. You might have the easiest de-badge ever when you go to change wraps.

Yes there are different types of way to wrap but they usually involve removing the emblems, trim pieces, etc and wrapping the car and then putting everything back on.

Some wraps/ppf are full disassembly where they literally take your car apart (removing bumpers, mirrors, door handle, hood, etc. to ensure the smoothest and cleanest possible edges.
