I think BMW should do some work about their naming strategies these days. Everything is just confusing now.
Scrap the "BMWi" name and let the i´s be e. Let a 3-series be a 3-series, not the 3er/i3 thing. "iM3" -> M3e 330e -> 330ie (injection + electric) "iX3 M50" -> X3 M50e "i3 M50" -> M350e "i3 xDrive30" -> 330e xDrive "i3 eDrive30" -> 330e And if the still want to have the "BMWi" trademark, they should leave it as a BMWi. "iM3" -> i3 M

Apple innovated the use of “i” in the names of things and I this instance BMW uses the “i” more accurately for IMITATION.

They're not. +17% may not sound like a lot but in terms of energy/brakes/tires and driving dynamics it's like driving around a track with 4 big dudes in the back of your M4. With that said, the industry is doing a decent job increasing power and braking (eg regen) to achieve respectable performance and somewhat offset the massive weight increase.

Why do everyone want this to be comparable and quicker than the Tesla Model 3 Performance?
The i4 M60 is already quicker than the Model 3 Performance! The iM3 should be way quicker than this. Moreover, BMW used the i letter naming way before Apple. This first iDrive was in 2001. |

I simply hope this machine looks as good as it performs. We all see what they did to the front end of the G80 M3. I really don't want to see a quad motor beast that can beat up many cars on the street with a front end we have to say to everyone who walks buy "You eventually get use to it & it grows on you... " That's passive BS & denying the fact that the new exterior language wasn't anything even remotely evolutionary.

Actually they don’t have 2 different platforms on the current 5 series or 7 series. The electric, hybrid, gas and diesel version are all on the G60 platform or G70 plattform for the 7 series. Because of that the i5 and i7 is a compromise with a driveshaft tunnel and no frunk. The future 2 different platforms will improve the way they design an EV. The only current fully electric platform bmw has is the ix.

BMW probably wants as many M3 buyers to jump over to the new electric model, but they know a sizable portion on going to stick to ICE for the near future. Might as well sell it to them.

I believe we should really focus on e-fuels. They produce zero net carbon or very little emissions while allowing to utilize existing fueling stations and any cars with a gas engine can use it. It’s a no brainer really. F1 will be using them following new engine regulations in 2026. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...HJeelwPam.html |

I think one article said that and then in that topic that was here a while back, the head of BMW M said there will be only an electric M and no other propulsion offered.
