Hands on reminder

Hi

I was wondering if anyone's got a workaround for the hands-on reminder for the active lane assist.

Has anyone been able to code it yet?

There's a Korean video on Youtube which suggests that they've done it, but no details to be found about how..

That video is not continuous. There's a jump plus we can't see the dashboard clearly where notification comes.

Yeah, you're probably right - it's not clear is it. I'ts probably not fully continuous.. but he's certainly extended the warning period or delayed it perhaps. That cut comes in at around the 50 second mark, which is significantly more than what the default behaviour is. I think I get around 15-20 seconds before the yellow hands on wheel alarm sounds.

I recall reading something about the VIM like that as well - you can increase the speed at which VIM is possible but not entirely disable it.

Note it depends what 'mode' it is in. On motorways at high speeds the reminder pops up after 3 seconds. When traffic jam assist is on it can be considerably longer. I've never time it but it has felt like a minute on accusation depending upon how fast or stop starting you do.

This sounds like a prophetically bad idea.

Why do you think it's a pathetic idea? As soon as the system Don't detect road markings or at lower speeds the car in front it will go back into standby mode

Exactly why it is a bad idea. My car seems to turn off the lane keep assist at any wide intersections (we have lots of intersections in the Phoenix area where two and three lane roads intersect) and unpredictably elsewhere. I would not want to leave my hands off for anything other than a short period where I was still concentrating on the road.

If you are on the highway, and the road is straight, you can activate active cruise control but not the lane keep assist and you can minimize your hand controls. But...still not a good idea IMHO.

It's makes a 'prophetically' loud beeping noise if it loses the lanes - but keeps the steering on the same track for a bit. no different to it losing the markings in the 2 seconds you were taking your hands off within the current limits. I don't see the issue with it being extended. However, I wouldn't want to mess with this feature with coding - sounds like insurance companies could easily prosecute you in the case there was an accident etc...

I drive my car like I've stole it everyday I average around 19mpg according to my car.
I do a lot of miles per week and the system is great on the motorways M20 M25 etc I would just like a little bit more autonomous on that boring drive, especially when you know the system is capable of doing so

Couldn't agree more. No one one wants to drive like a petrol head 100% of the time nor do we get the opportunity to do so. This is where driving assistance systems make perfect sense. I use them when there's plenty of traffic around or I've had a long day and all I want to do is to get to the other end.

He didn't say "pathetic", he said "prophetically", in any case likely both are applicable. If you don't understand why it's a stupid idea then no one is going to be able to explain it to you. Do you think maybe it operates this way for a reason, just maybe? http://www.darwinawards.com/

I dont know why you would want to do that. While I do enjoy the feature, it definitely is an assist system only. It has tried to kill me once or twice in the highway in a situation it did not read correctly...

I wonder how you managed to survive it...?

I don't think anyone here is saying they want to stick it on and then have a nap or watch a movie. Just to stop it artificially dropping out. All the same factors would still be on play - you have to be alert and ready to take over etc.

I'd definitely like the timeout to be increased but I've seen it get it wrong many times so god knows I'd never leave it to its devices completely!!!
