2018 530e won't charge past 7 miles. Will need to contact BMW North America.

request a telematics report via the CarData tab on your MyBMW account and look under "energy content of the high voltage battery". i believe the pre LCI usable capacity is 9.8kWh. no doubt your battery has degraded but by how much? report back

4 Mile Range after charge

I took it to the Westlake Ohio BMW dealership and they stated that I have a bad cell #5. Cost to replace is over $6,000. They recommended that I replace all cells and that would cost over $13,000.

They stated that this is not under warranty as it expired under the new car warranty which was 4 years or 48,000 miles.

This dealership has no knowledge of an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty for the high voltage battery.

I would not recommend that anyone purchase a BMW hybrid vehicle. Ever.

BMW has an 8Y/80K mile battery warranty in non-CARB states and a 10Y/100K mile battery warranty in CARB states. This is all in your warranty booklet so if they appear to not know I’d show them it and ask them to figure it out with BMWNA.

My car is done at just 44,000 miles. Whatever advantage fuel wise that I enjoyed is gone.

The BMW Dealership in Westlake Ohio, nor BMW North America wanted to honor the 8/80 High Voltage Lithium Ion Battery warranty. I'm basically hosed with and am actively looking to trade my 2018 530e in for anything other that a BMW Hybrid. At this pont I'd take a Pinto. What could possibly be worse than a 530e. Good luck to you all. I will post this to absolutely every forum that has hybrid vehicles discussions.

Yikes.

What reasoning was given by BMW NA on this?

No reason provided, they discussed the issue internally and stated that I am not covered by this warranty. Now I need to find every hybrid vehicle forum in existence and let them know what they can expect from a BMW hybrid.

One of my friends is a BMW Master Mechanic, and he told me to stay away from BMW hybrid vehicles. He plans to buy a Toyota Sienna LOL!

Have you considered a 2nd hand replacement? Appointed that's still a risk of sorts.before I purchased my 530e I made sure to know how much replacements were being sold at.

I haven’t used it so I can’t speak deeply on it. But if you are a member of the BMWCCA you can also try the Ombudsman.
