This made me look at the Route 66 language again though. I think I am good. It basically says All Items Covered Under The Manufacturers Original; Coverage". So no, they aren't going to repair my Dinan exhaust nor would I expect them to, but they aren't going to void my contract because of it. Dealer/BMW has done several repairs with the exhaust on. The only comment I got on the Dinan exhaust was a compliment from the tech working on it.

In terms of Exclusions, "repairs as a results of alteration not recommended by the manufacturer". The way I interpret this is if a part failed because of a modification it would not be covered, not not an overall contract killer.

I have zero worry about the exhaust causing failures to other areas. Just doesn't happen, it is an exhaust.

Now my piggy back tune (which I also got a compliment on) is something I might want to pull if there is any chance the adjuster might come out.

All this said, these aftermarket warranty's are a slippery slope. I waffled many times on to do it or not. In the end, both the dealer and my indie said to go for it. I asked them about the modifications and they both said, only if the modification resulted in a failure of something else, which is the same thing the dealer said to me about the factory and CPO warranty's.

My tech's video at my BMW dealership (I made up the complaint about the oil leak so they would dig in and look over the engine):

I had my G30 in for service on Tuesday and they put it up on a lift and went over things with me. The foreman texted me the video afterwards. Interesting stuff. I think they call it Active Reception.

Negative. Incorrect. They did without me requesting anything. "Active Reception" is something the dealership advertises. They did it once before shortly after I bought the car. Same scenario.

Its the top tier plan, 0 deductible and transferable to new owner at no cost.

Here it is:

Hi Mark,

Per our phone conversation as of today January 11, 2023 the quote for the 2020 BMW will cost you $2699.00 for 7 years or 120K miles expires 01/11/2030 or when odometer reads 120K miles.

Sincerely

Ewa
What year is your M550? It covers 7 years from the policy date or from in service date of the vehicle?

Never mind! I read further and see that it is from date of policy purchase. That’s awesome! No brainer!

I’m looking for a 2020 M550 that very well could be a long time keeper, regardless of future daily driving. I will have some decent factory coverage left plus likely CPO. My plan is that rates “should” drop by the time my warranty expires and I’ll go to the CU here that sells R66 (and has extremely competitive rates) and refi the note with a lower rate and buy the warranty all in one swoop. If the rates are the same, I’ll just open an account and buy the warranty.

You should be able to find one with a few months of factory warranty left.

When I moved to FL, I experience this for this first time when I took my car in for service. They do it routinely. My SA always sends me a video clip with an overview 'report' of my car walking around the undercarriage and wheels very similar to this (although this one is a bit more detailed). I appreciate hearing straight from the tech who is working on my car that day.

Just talked to a rep at HCFU. He told me to contact Route 66 directly. I mentioned I thought it had to be purchased through a CU. He told me otherwise.
Quick update. I submitted a request for a quote via their website. An automated reply came back almost immediately with a packet of docs for me to sign and return. The policy quoted has the amendment for extended coverage. Will review it shortly.

I agree Mark. They only send out an adjuster if it’s a significant repair or what the shop wants to do doesn’t add up meaning they think they are padding the job. I’ll ask my indie. They deal with warranty companies all the time.

It was my Service Adviser’s idea as she recognized my CPO was coming to an end.

They will quote you, but they will send you somewhere to buy it. They won’t underwrite it directly with you. That was my experience when I contacted them directly.

Hey Joe. It was the HFCU site that I used to get the quote not directly from Route 66.
I found it strange that the HFCU rep suggested I contact Route66 directly. I was aware R66 doesn’t sell direct to consumer.
I signed and returned the HFCU quote sheet now just waiting on a response. Assume that won’t be until Tuesday at the earliest.

Nice, I had misread your post. I spoke directly with an analyst at Route 66 and hit him up with several repair scenarios. It was a good call and a good experience.

Could you please share the HFCU link to get the quote? I can't seem to find it.

Traveling right now so not available. Look under Auto Loan products.
They refer to it as MPB.

I've called 5 other Credit Unions and all 5 required you to have an active loan on the vehicle and a membership.
Evidently HFCU uses a 3rd party to handle Route66 and I gave her my Email.
She said I would be contacted within 24 hours.

HFCU phone # is 800 656 4328.
Speak with a Loan rep.

Good morning. I joined Hanscom a few days ago. Is the preferred process to call a particular Hanscom employee, visit their website, or something else? Sorry if I am slow on the uptake LOL.

Hanscom is kind of a Mom and Pop shop. Their website blows and there is nothing you can do through it to buy this contract.

You have to connect with someone at a branch. I honestly can't recommend the person I dealt with. He was kind of an idiot and clearly did not know the product. He was also slow to respond to me and given my OCD, I wanted to strangle him a few times. I actually started cc'ing corporate on my emails to him.

You could start by sending an email under their "support" address. I have found they are responsive to that email, meaning someone competent is watching it.

I'm hitting a brick wall trying to find someone at Hanscom who can help with Route 66. Does anybody have a phone number or email for a known person at Hanscom who is on the ball? Thanks!
