Remus Vs Dinan

If you had to choose between the Remus catback and Dinan catback? Which one would you choose?

Both are about the same price.

Tough one, i'd go with REMUS due to the deeper mid-range tone but both are top notch

Dinan, mostly because the name is more recognizable and the next potential buyer might pay a few more bucks. Plus, I like having "Dinan" written on the tips.

Although, most folks (including non-enthusiasts) will also recognize Remus Sport exhaust systems, and the company has been around for 30+ years!

I understand that, but Dinan and BMW go together. People pay a premium for Dinan upgrades, just surf Bring a Trailer a bit and see that BMW with Dinan upgrades go for.

I am not saying one is better than the other, trust me, but Dinan is much more recognizable as a value add name, although they ain't what they used to be, they still carry the reputation.

I consider myself a 35 year avid BMW enthusiast and I never heard of Remus until I got my G30. Take that with a grain of salt as I really didn't mod before this car, but I have followed many Dinan upgrades by others over those 35 years.

Ehh. Whatever you feel like waiting for, Remus for me is not worth the wait honestly. I ordered a little over 2 months ago and I’ve gotten about 6 different arrival dates, which just keep getting pushed back. I’m looking to purchase a little more expensive catback (made here in the USA). Maybe if you order your Remus today or tomorrow you’ll get “my spot” in line for it lol. There’s another guy that I’ve been talking to, that has ordered back in June with still no exhaust.

Between Meisterschaft/Armytrix.

Meisterschaft - 3-4 weeks “build time” but I can’t find any videos of that system on a m550, but it’s also $3900 shipped to my door step.

Armytrix- they just came off the production line last Friday, per Tom. and have a few left available. (Would receive within 7 days) But idk if I want to spend $4600-4700 on the exhaust system. Told the guy that, and he went on about how someone just purchased a $9k exhaust system for his Lamborghini...

At this point I don’t care to spend a little extra lol. By the time my Remus finally ships in, I’ll be onto my next vehicle 😂

That's what's bugging me, ZERO audio/video reference..

They are both great systems but very different. If you are looking for the most sound, the Remus is the way to go. It really sounds great but is on the louder side. If you want something more conservative but with a nice exhaust note, then Dinan. I went with Dinan. Check out some YT videos of both and judge for yourself. In either case, your looking at 6 months minimum to get it, maybe longer.

I know title is Remus v Dinan - but do check out Meisterschaft. I've been super happy with it, and get lots of compliments.

Not overbearing - unless you want it to be! It can get rowdy in sport plus.

Remus no doubt, if you want it a bit more mean Meister. Remus has a proper V8 sound, low deep and growly. It's tame in comfort too so perfect for daily/kids.

Love the sound of the Remus but would probably want to live with the Dinan. If I was 20 years younger, Remus hands down.

That's pretty much my sentiment. After 30+ years of BMW ownership, I made an expensive mistake before the M550. A brief ownership of a Maserati, which besides being an under powered piece of shit, it had an aggressive exhaust which admittedly sounded great, but it was a "look at me" exhaust. I'm pretty sure my neighbors rolled their eyes on every cold start and drive away. Now I certainly don't care too much what people think, but I also don't want to draw attention to myself. It's a younger guys game. I wanted something that purred and was 50+ tasteful.

I have a 540 but I'm thinking Dinan (axle back only) will provide the same subtle/"classy" upgrade that you're describing. It's also the only one I've found where I've seen examples of it installed on a g30 that isn't M Sport (mine isn't). I was nervous at first because it removes the exhaust flaps from the system. But your post and others gives me more confidence that it will be tame enough. I know you're talking about your 550, but I'm assuming the same relative result.

I did finally find a video of that exhaust on a 540 that's axle back only. Sounds pretty tame except the damn cold start.
