The case is compatible with the wireless charger in the G30.

This is what I'm using now, and I've been using Pitaka products since my X. I'm not a fan of the way the current car mount actually mounts (I prefer the scissor approach they've used in the past, vs. the current notch that goes behind one of the vent fins), but the wireless charging solution integrated now (with a USB C cable going down to the USB port where the car wireless charging solution is) is a nice change.

I used a Brodit/Proclip left side phone mount in my M550i, with an apple MagSafe charger 3M taped directly to the mount. The wire runs under the mount and then behind the dash, where I hardwired it into the fuse panel through an auxiliary 12v socket that I soldered to a fuse tap. It works pretty well but I do wish the phone was a bit more vertical.

I did something similar to this I'm my E39 and QX60. They actually sell a holder with swivel on Amazon for the Magsafe for $15 bucks.

No need for a mount in the G30 with Apple CarPlay and I have a nice USB-C set up which can charge my phone to 80% in minutes.

A USB-C coiled black lightning chord and a low profile lighter USB-C power adapter to go between the two cup holders. That's pretty much it. Both available on Amazon.

Appreciate the practical solution. To be honest I didn't notice there is a 12V socket between the cup holders!! I'm still getting over the shock that the G31 only has one USB port

I keep the coiled chord in the glovebox and only pull it out when I really need to charge. USB-C charges so fast there is no need for me to leave a wire hanging around. For me it is there in a pinch or for long road trips. My 14 Pro Max can hold a charge for two days and I charge it on my nightstand every night.

I looked into this a while ago. I think it only fits cars that do not already have the wireless charging pad.

yes it won’t fit if you have that, but that’s not the only reason. it also won’t fit if you have Digital Key capability (which we do), and we didn’t opt for the wireless charger.

You buy the clip separately. They are matched to the phone.

Hey guys, this thread helped a ton with my decision making process, I want to share what I did to contribute back to this thread. Note that I don't work for any of these companies and have no ties whatsoever

I bought the BEERTE Phone Holder for BMW 5 Series and love that it clips over the hazard buttons and not a vent mount. The mount itself and the extra magnetic rings are smaller in diameter than the standard MagSafe size, and when I put the ring in my phone case it messed with wireless charging when I put it on my wireless charger at home. This was a problem.

I took a chance and my work around was to buy the MagSafe compatible Ciencimy Magnetic Car Mount and I paired this with a Spigen Mag Armor MagSafe Case. I unscrewed the larger Ciencimy mount from it's holder and unscrewed the BEERTE mount from the clip, then placed the larger Ciencimy mount on the BEERTE clip. Now I have a 'hybrid' clip mount with the correct MagSafe size, works perfect for me!

Nice workaround. So this does not charge the phone, correct? Just a magnet to hold it in place? I am a big magsafe charging fan. On all my other cars, I have a mount with a genuine magsafe pad inserted into it with it going into a USB-C charger. On the G30, with Apple Carplay, I never felt the need for a phone mount.

Unrelated, you should really make that Apple Carplay full screen. (coding)

Thanks Joe! Correct, it's just the magnet to hold the phone. With my kids in the car, I stream Youtube for them and this set up works perfectly. My iPhone is not jailbroken so I can't hack Carplay to stream YouTube on the full screen. In the future I might upgrade this to a charging set up as you mentioned. I do have the OEM wireless charging pad but it heats up the phone so bad I don't really use it, and my phone is relatively new so battery life is good for now. Full screen Carplay is something I'll do in the future as well and is on my list

Cool, totally get keeping the attention of young kids, gives the adults some adult time.

I never use the pad either. I get the new iPhone Pro Max every year, so the battery is always excellent. When I do need a charge, I keep a nice black coiled USB-C cord in the center console and I keep a USB-C power plug between the cupholders. USB-C charges amazingly fast.
