VLD & Anti-Dazzel GFHB

Sharing for community good. BMW 'adaptive' LED lights fitted.

Post research and two attempts, have the VLD and GFHB working beautifully on 2022 M550i G30. Coded with Bimmercode 4.1(12440) and OBDLinkCX, iOS 14.8, iPhone 12pro.

Body domain controller
3530 LaMaster1 > LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y > AFS > enable
3530 LaMaster1 > C_FLC_ENA > enable [was already enabled]
3531 LaMaster2 > c_AFS_ENA > enable
3532 LaMaster3 > c_HBA_ENA > enable [was already enabled]
3532 LaMaster3 > c_HBA_GFHB_ENA > enable

I used this same recipe on my 2021 540 xi, and they work perfectly.
Thanks!

Will this work on 2019 540i as well or is there some differences with LCI models?

I just went into Bimmercode expert mode on Body Domain Controller and don't see the same coding modules available...
3530 LaMaster1 > LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y > AFS > enable.... I don't have "AFS" but have "G011_AFS". Is it same?
3530 LaMaster1 > C_FLC_ENA > enable [was already enabled]
3531 LaMaster2 > c_AFS_ENA > enable... not listed in my 3531 LaMaster2
3532 LaMaster3 > c_HBA_ENA > enable [was already enabled]...not listed in my 3532 LaMaster3
3532 LaMaster3 > c_HBA_GFHB_ENA > enable...not listed in my 3532 LaMaster3

I'm using iOS15 and Bimmercode 4.1(12440) with OBDLink MX. Have coded before in standard mode with no issues.

I have a 2018 and I have the same issue. This must be for LCI only.

Thank you. I've been scouring the web for this. I expect that In 2 years when this becomes "law" in the US, that BMW will sell this as an over the air update upgrade…

I am tempted to try this on my 2021 M550. How difficult was it to do? I have not used Bimmercode.

Do we think this would also work on a 2022 X5?

I’m poking around Bimmercode in Demo mode (my OBDLink is arriving tomorrow) and I do not see the Body Domain Controller as an option. Is that because it is demo mode/not connected to the car?

Thanks.

Not sure about the X5 but if you have an LCI M550 and you see the exact options and modules listed in the 1st post recipe, then it's pretty easy using expert mode. I just don't have the same module options as LCI so getting mine coded by Almaretto later this week

So I have a 2021 540 and I was originally coded by Almaretto. Dealer updated my software for the acceleration fix and lost my coding. I just followed all the steps above. One main thing I noticed was that when Almaretto coded me, I lost the amber sidemarker. That's always been the tell tale that you were properly coded. The bimmercode steps above leaves the ambers on. I haven't had a chance to drive it in the night as I live in nyc and there aren't many backroads without lights.

Correct, BDC doesn't appear in demo mode. I realized this recently too.

Really pretty easy.

I grabbed some screenshots on the way through BUT this is not a complete step by step so don't follow the pictures exactly, but will give you a feel for it

Got it—worked on both my 2021 M550 and 2022 X5.

I previously had this coded on in my 2018 540 by Almaretto, so I can confirm that it is working as it should. Was very easy.

Now what else should I code?

Hi, can you elaborate on the side marker tell tale sign? I have a pre-LCI M550 and have AD/VLD, I would like to check it out. Is the side marker part of the headlight unit? Or is this specific to LCI or 540?

This light is a US thing. AD/VLD cars do not have it. So if your US car is coded properly the light will not function.

Can anybody comment on the performance of the lights after coding? My 21 M550i would be happy to have this coded!

Here is a great video explaining all the various terms and equipment needed as well as a great strategy for enabling Anti-Dazzle on cars that have the hardware, but were disabled for the US market.

Hi Joe, is your headlight side marker (amber) on? If you are properly coded, you will not have the amber light enabled on your headlight.

The steps in the original post, thru bimmercode, leaves the amber side marker light on - after the coding. I did the steps above and I still have the amber side marker. My lights seem to be working properly as they are adjusting around traffic and not blinding others. I wonder if the bimmercode method is missing a step.

The bimmercode method explained above still leaves the light on. At least this is the case on the LCI. Lights seem to be operating as designed, moving the beam around cars and not blinding others.

Aside from the AD/VLD I'd like to know if we can program our cars headlamps to the European brightness levels. AD/VLD and EU brightness would make for incredible night driving.

I just had a look at mine and my side marker is also on and my AD/VLD is working correctly, splitting, dipping, etc. Not sure about the side markers qualifier on this being an indicator. My car was delivered from the factory with the system enabled. It's part of my VO. Maybe all models and model years aren't the same when it comes to the side marker?
