Are the 20" GY Eagle F1's really that bad?
Looking at a set of 20" OEM wheels for my M550i that came from the factory with the 19" square setup. Not fully convinced that I want 20s but this set has basically new GY Eagle F1 Asymmetrics installed and it seems like everyone HATES that tire. My car currently has non-RFTs, very unexciting "grand touring all-season" Bridgestones, and the ride on this set in my area of the midwest is just fine. Am I setting myself up for failure and disappointment even considering 20s with these tires? Or would it be OK if the wheels had non-RFTs, it's just the Goodyears that are the problem? Any input would be appreciated.

if you run into a pothole you will probably bend your rims real fast. make sure they aren't currently bent to begin with. Would swap out the tire to non-rft just for the sake of not bending the rims. in general the reviews are bad on the GY for a reason.

Sad to say but yes, the general consensus is right on the Goodyears. I had to switch them out immediately on my LCI 530E since I had such terrible luck with them on my first G30.
Long story but all 4 tires had issues. Terrible experience. |

If the tires are F1 Asymmetric 3 then be prepared to change them due to the weak sidewall and it's propensity to bubble on even minor roadway hits. Some newer G30s came with Asymmetric 5 and this tire so far appears to be better designed.
