2021 LCI G30 M sport edition with red caliper brakes - wheel fitment

Hi all

I pick my g30 up this Thursday and I'm forward planning my winter wheels so I've got them on hand.

Is there any easy way to determine what will fit my car?

Also, at present it has the 20" individual alloys fitted which have a staggered setup. Do I have to maintain this staggered setup for winter also?

Many thanks

You can always go for a square setup. I recommend 19” so you can have a little more tire in the snow.

Ideally I'd go 18s! Comfort over style

additionally, i think you have to change your idrive settings after you change the wheel size.

It is possible. I’ve seen that done but clearance is extremely tight between the barrel and caliper if you have 374 calipers. If you have 348 then you will have plenty of clearance.

Nothing to change. Just initialize the relearn of TPMS since the sensors will be different

As you can see in this video, you change the settings for the size and whether winter or summer.

Not my car. Another forum member but this is M brakes with the larger 374 version. It still clears with a small gap. I wouldn’t recommend it since it’s a tight squeeze but it does fit.

I do not think BMW allows putting 18" wheels on a 550 with M brakes due to little or no clearance. But no worries, my winter sets are 19" and comfortwise are OK even on Czech roads that are not the best in the world. Besides, if you hit a pothole real hard, you are likely to damage both 18" and 19" tyre :-(.

Picked it up earlier today, tanzanite blue with comfort plus, tech plus and m sport edition pack.

Fantastic car but the ride is not what I want... It's okay but not great. It has adaptive suspension but it's sitting on 20" 1001M wheels.

I'd like to size down to 18"

Hi,

I've just picked up a G31 same spec & love the wheels.

Came from a F31 340i so it's a big step up in refinement. I don't find the ride too bad and it's better than the standard F31 but agree it still needs improvement.

I ditched the run flat tyres and changed the suspension on my F31 for AC Schnitzer sports suspension, best thing I did for that car and those who drove it commented on how good it was, not only was it firmer, it was also more comfortable and that was on 19" staggered 442M's

My plan therefore for the G31 is - ACS springs although as the rear is air, only springs to the front with rear level adjusters. ACS do not produce dampers for the G3x as they say the standard are good, so if the former set up is anything to go by this will help lots. I'll also change the run flats in due course.

So if you like the wheels it maybe a consideration for you as well, it's likely cheaper than new wheels and tyres?
