what tire pressure should I have ?

I have a 2021 540 xdrive with the 19 inch sport wheels and tires. All are same size and width.
I always thought the tire pressure should be same for all tires. When I took the car to a service a couple of months ago they made the tire pressure a lot lower in the front wheels then back wheels. And now when I go into the tire pressure screen recommendation it’s showing it should be lower in the front vs rear tires. Is that a error ?

Tire pressure for specific models are listed on the door jamb of the drivers door. You should use that as your baseline

Ok thanks. It’s just weird that the service dept changed it.

That’s obviously for cold tyres
I use the idrive display which compensates for temperature so if the tyre is warm, it’s recommended pressure takes that into account

I have a shortcut button asdhh in gamed to that so I can check the pressures every journey

If the ambient temperature changes significantly ( keep an eye on the weather) then you will probably habe to adjust your pressures

This will all ensure that you get the best and even wear out of tyres especially if you have run flats , thes mask under inflated tyres very well!

Due to the battery weight in the trunk along with how bmw distributes power, rears are higher in pressure to accommodate.

for my 21 m550 the recommended is 38 in the front and 35 in the rear, if i recall correctly. back is less than the front for sure. the odd part is for 2018 m550i they recommend the front to be higher.

I would just go off the door label.

My idrive is currently recommending 42psi all round with ambient temp around 10c

This is a bit higher than my previous 540

Sorry, should have mentioned cold temp. I check it before moving and adding energy into the tire. Also, 2020 has 41 front and 44 rear.

I had the same question in my mind and when asked in BMW they said "go by the door sticker". This is to be understood as required pressure of cold tyres.
