Clunk from gear shift when applying foot brake
Hi - just noticed today that when siting in either "P" or "N" and when footbrake depressed there is a clunk noise from central tunnel which can be felt on the gearshift lever. Sounds like an electro mechanical solenoid operating?
Clunk only obvious with ignition on (engine not running) or when engine is running. Not had the car long ( 500 miles ) but not noticed it before. Any body noticed similar? Thanks |

It sounds like the interlock that stops you shifting out of Park unless you've got your foot on the brake. It will activate whenever you put your foot on the footbrake. It's quite normal

I have noticed this same in my 80km 2016 18d xDrive.
Transmission and brakes works without any issues, but have noticed the strange clunking noice while in P and while applying or releasing foot brake. I have had the car for a while, but noticed this just recently. And I’m typically rather pranoid with different clunks and noices, so I guess it has not been there always.. Does anyone had similar experiences? Or is this just normal? Thanks! |
