Anyone running these tire sizes with xDrive? I just installed this combo yesterday and started feeling a hesitation on acceleration and a bit when coming to a stop. Almost feels like a misfire. Didn’t do it yesterday when I first put the wheels on but started doing it today so I’m not sure if it’s wheel related or not due to the -1.1% diameter difference.
255/35/20 front 285/30/20 rear Update: Turns out the tires and the spark plug gap of 0.022” were the issue. The timing of the two different issues popping up at the same time was impeccable. The misfire was causing power loss under hard acceleration at all speeds, intermittently rough idle, and nearly stalling in traffic a couple times. Changing the plugin gap back to 0.030” solved this. Brand new OEM plugs. The car did not like the size combo with the tires I’m running. The tire size hesitation was felt only under normal acceleration from a stop and when coming to a stop. After fixing the gap, the car still had good power, just the jerky take offs. Changing the front tires to 245/35 solved this issue. |

Makes sense. The stock tire size for staggered is 245/40 and 275/35. I read somewhere (I think was on Rohana's website) that staggered tires on AWD cars should be kept under 1% difference, or else it may confuse the AWD and/or traction control systems.
If you want to run 255/35 up front, you'll need a 295/30 in the back, which I'm not sure would fit. |
