After Market Tire Sensors Not Working On My 530

I purchased some tires and sensors from Discount Tire. I have BMW wheels (Seperate set) that did not have BMW sensors. Discount has tried to reset my system several times only to have it come up as a tire sensor error shortly thereafter Will after-market sensors work on this car? My local dealer says no.

They should as long as they're the correct frequency.

You don't give a model year so I'm not sure which database you can use...but if you pull up the wheel diagrams using your VIN...select the correct 11 digit BMW part nbr for the sensors that work with your car.

You can them simply google that number (ie BMW xx xx x xxx xxx {where x=the actual numbers}) to find compatible TPM sensors.

You can also click on the 11 digit BMW part nbr in the database to see what other BMW models use the same part nbr...as well as if there are older numbers that are compatible that have been succeeded by newer part nbrs that are compatible. And it will also reveal if there are INCOMPATIBLE part nbrs, too.

Double check to see if your local DT store is looking up TPM sensors for the f10 530i...which is NOT compatible with the g30 530i

My discount tire store bought the TPMS sensors from BMW--lucky me--but pricy. Probably a result of their experience with BMW's and after market.

Thanks. I will go back to Discount Tire again and see what they can do. At one point the said "we can remove the aftermarket ones and replace with BMW" but that would be $$$$$

Definitely go back and have them double check which sensors they ordered and if they ordered the correct aftermarket TPM sensors for the G30 5 series. FYI, you may be able to tell if they have the sensors they installed listed on your receipt. Do a google search for that sensor to see if they are compatible with the G30.

It is a mistake that can easily happen if the clerk was simply looking for the aftermarket sensors for a BMW 5 series. If they failed to look at build date info...they could easily order (or the person picking the sensor from the shelf to send to them on the other end) the sensors for the F10 5 series...which ARE NOT COMPATIBLE.

G30: 36 10 6 887 147

I purchased my TPMS from RockAuto for less than $100.00. These sensors were made by Schrader (28238) which are considered OEM equivalent.
