What Winn said. I had a 2018 M550 for 36,000 miles with DHP and only HK. The car was amazing and it went on many long road trips over 2 lane roads. Definitely not a harsh ride and the handling was tremendous. The HK can be dialed in for a nice sound.

I jumped out of the M550 and into an F90 M5 with Bowers & Wilkins. Its not a $3000 upgrade, but that's what it costs........and I wanted it. I have a great home system and was always tired of having the music quality drop away when I got in the car. B&W fixes that, not sorry I spent the money. But, if you can't have both, go with DHP. And, if you want both, if you lease you're only paying for half of it anyway.

Also, the horsepower upgrade over my version of the M550 will make it that much sweeter.

2021 BMW M550i  [0.00]
I cannot speak to the comparison as I took delivery of my first BMW, a 2021 M550i, 4 weeks ago. After owning 6 Audis, the last 2 being S6s, I'm very impressed with the power and smooth shifting of the M550i. In sport mode, the engine really purrs and has gobs of torque. The M550i is less nose heavy compared to the V8 S6.

The only reason that I started looking at other brands is because my 2017 S6 lease was coming to an end and the 2020 S6 only comes with a biturbo V6, no more V8. I took a 2020 M550i for a test drive and I was very impressed. I ordered one but my order was canceled because of the Covid-19 factory shutdown. I lucked out as when my dealer was finally able to place my order, it was for the refreshed 2021 version.

I took delivery on 8/30. The bluestone metallic with black shadow trim really looks great in person, much better than the images on the BMW visualizer website. A week later, I had the side and rear windscreen tinted with a 30% ceramic film.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that insurance my new M550i was $300 cheaper than my 2017 S6. The savings almost paid for the window tinting ($400).

Loving it! Here are a few photos that I shot last week at the historic Mercer Museum in Doylestown, PA.

Cheers,
Bud

I have every option except for the more expensive executive package which adds window shades and ceramic control surfaces and the Wilkins sound system.

I chose the black nappa leather interior option to contrast the lighter exterior color and popular wood trim which is naturally black and grey.

The tech on this car is way more advanced than the 3 year old Audi S6 this M550i replaced.

Bud

Thanks!

I spent Sunday afternoon washing my new ride and then applying 2 coats of Glassparency graphene coating. The resulting gloss and shine depth if amazing. The coating makes the paint very slick. With two applications, the manufacturer claimed a five year life before I have to reapply. Love it!
