Do you have a before dragy I tried looking though this thread but there are so many posts I couldn’t find it. I am just interested to see what numbers were before the update.

I don't. I read 4.1 to 4.5 though.

I cut a 3.49 a little later. Although Dragy marked it invalid. I'll try again later

Yeah, you need to sit in the LC for about 3 full seconds I believe to get a good RPM/boost launch
Ok, I'll try tomorrow if I have time. I cut a 3.49 (with roll out) not using LC.

So checkered flag, wait 3 seconds and let her fly?

Yes, that is what I was told by the pre 2021 M550i guys, and it seemed to work well. Can’t wait to try it once I get this recall done! Keep us posted when you get a chance to do it man!

This was my best run when i first took the delivery of the car. But i had runs where it would do 4.5, 4.7 even 4.9 🤷*♂️🤦*♂️

Are you using LC? That’s still very far from 3.6 and especially pre LCI times. Hmmmmm. I know once it gets going is a rocket, but it should be able to out launch the pre LCI and be 3.6 or faster.

I am going to venture that this will never be an over the air update. It's too complex and risky to leave to the end user.

Agreed - was very surprised they said it would an OTA update at the outset…

Am I the only one that got the OTA update installed? It did clear a lot of my coding I had on the car, even cleared my SAT presets, seats, seat modules coding, warning chimes, speedlock, drive mode selection, etc.

Just FYI, I don't have a dragy, nor did I have "before" times to compare, but the car feels smoother shifting out of 1st for me.

The online recall tool on BMW's website now lists 0 open recalls.

Which update? 07.2021 was the acceleration update. It is not OTA

03.2021 was OTA. It was not the acceleration fix.

Just checked my i-step... S15A-21-3-550 and car shows the 03.2021.50 update as being installed. So I guess I was wrong, it was the 03.2021 which was installed.

Great, now I have to go to the dealer...

The work order clearly shows that the dealership is encoding and updating the DME. This is specific for every car and I doubt there will ever be an OTA update for something like this that's vehicle specific. OTA updates are fairly generic and dont need encoding.

In general, I took BMW's recent OTA update functionality with a grain of salt. It's more marketing than anything or a "cool" factor. Sure, they will release updates for the head unit with functionality (some for a fee??) and other smaller modules, bug fixes, etc. But these things aren't iPhone's. No way are they going to let owners brick their cars flashing the DME over Wi-Fi.

Agreed. Plus I think 3rd parties may potentially use it to figure out the source codes on how to unlock the new DMEs. No way BMW allows this to be OTA.

Just shows the placebo effect when one thinks a change was made and suddenly the car feels faster. Not knocking you, just observing the challenge for many to feel a change when told or think it was done. Aside from launch times, I suspect the day to day change will be far less noticeable.

I managed a 3.49 (roll out) last night.

It's definitely faster, however over 4,000RPM in first it's the same. The glitch was the "off the line"

But he didnt get the real update and for all we know that previous update may have updated the 1-2 shift. I don't think he claimed the car was faster or that it took off any better than before, which is what the real update is for.

After seeing on here Monday that the update was dealer installed I called my dealer. They confirmed the update was available so I made an appointment for 9 am today. They called at noon to say the car was done which included a free check-up. So it takes less than three hours. I don't have a Dragy and have not done a launch (ever) so I have no basis for comparison but the car seems a lot more responsive. Could just be my imagination.
