From the article: "Massa was open to reversing his decision because he only quit when it became clear there was no space for him at Williams or any other similarly competitive team."

That's good, because my first thought was why a team would want a driver who has decided to retire.

I find this odd: "Their title sponsor, drinks giant Martini, requires at least one driver over 25 for promotional reasons - and Williams' other car will be driven by the 18-year-old Canadian novice Lance Stroll".

And I've not heard of Lance Stroll.

Lance was a development driver for Williams. Nothing special about him so far as I can tell...won F3, blah, blah, blah.

Since Martini is an alcoholic drinks company, they need someone over 25 to do ads for them in countries where the drinking age is not 18 and/or society wouldn't approve of an 18yr old selling drinks.

Massa is as boring as watching paint dry. He is also way past his prime so all I feel is "meh".

Of course I did. What did he do that was exciting in that race? His walk of tears after his crash?

Meh, boring personality and mediocre driver.

A lot of people forget his comeback from the 09 crash at Hungary too - Massa nearly died.

Yes, he was pretty well run over by Alonso during the late Ferarri years, but I blame that more on the post-crash trauma than Massa's driving ability.

Not sure people forget the accident.
I have read that Massa is well liked.
The article below is interesting, info about Massa's helmet.

Don't get over excited. Pascal Wehrlein is still on pole position for the Merc seat.

Worse kept secret this season.
Love to see a competitive driver lands on Merc to challenge Hamilton.

Hamilton's been beaten by Rosberg and Button, tied by Button and Alonso. What makes you so sure that a top young driver like Bottas won't smoke him?

Rosberg took 3 years. One in three seasons.
Button also earned more points to Hamilton one in the three seasons they were team-mates. Although Button is more consistent throughout the three seasons.

Every driver were beaten by someone eventually. Did I ever said Bottas can't smoke him? All I said was Bottas will definitely challenge Hamilton and give us some racing. Something wrong with the statement? Take it easy for Hamilton haters.

2017 season also see different aero regulation and more stringent Power Unit and components restrictions. We might even see more engine go bang in 2017. Anyhow, should be exciting and throw some mix into Merc leading races.

Lance Stroll was Euro F3 champion in 2016 season. Also previous development driver for Ferrari, and Williams last season. Although his parents were billionaires, you do need a lot of backings to get into motorsport.

After posting, I reread this comment; and honestly, I'm not sure if you're saying that you look forward to seeing a competitive driver (like Bottas) challenge HAM, or that you would love it if a competitive driver (not Bottas) eventually came along.

If I read it in a way you didn't intend, then sorry.
