What's dynamic damper control? what's function on G30

Dear Madam/Sir,

Could anyone tell me what's Dynamic damper control is? what function when put it on G30?

is it a consumable part which need to be replaced like a brake pad? how long need to replace; if not replaced is it affect a safety during driving.

Best regards,

Stanley

All I can say it is not a consumable or serviceable part. It s basically electronic damping of the suspension so that you enjoy a more supple ride on rough roads. It gives you comfort plus. I am sure others would be able to explain it better than me.

I'm guessing if you're asking the question then you don't need it... people are generally saying the passive normal suspension is good.

Oh definitely. I've specced the adaptive drive. But I'm just saying if Stanley is asking about what it is it doesn't sound like he's much bothered about the handling etc etc. So maybe best save money?

TBH I'm not convinced I've made a value for money choice but hey ho.

I had DDC in my F10. Worth every dollar IMO if you want a smooth ride. When I would drive a loaner F10's without it I would notice immediately. I drove in Comfort Plus suspension most often. It gives you Comfort + but can also drop down to Sport+. So its best of both.

Another way to soften the ride to 7 series levels is to have DDC and add the wheels + tires from the 7 series. This was direct bolt on for the F10/F01. Only guessing it the same on the G30/G11. The 7 uses taller rubber tire and that really improves the ride quality.

If you're choosing between DDC and Adaptive Steering I would try to get both for best comfort but feel the DDC is probably more noticeable between those two.

I just ordered a 530e with dynamic dampers. I test drove one without and it handled very well...much smoother than my 330e but my wife hates the ride in the 330e (sport suspension) as being too harsh for her.

So getting the dynamic dampers is my solution to my home life -- comfort with soft settings when she is in the car with me and sport settings with firmer settings when I am alone.

+1 Exactly the same thinking. No idea how it?ll be to drive as I?m still waiting on my car. My order is stuck at 1100 for the past 2 months :-(

There have been several discussions about this topic, e.g. http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1372802

and confusingly, BMW uses different name in different markets

DDC dynamic damper control
VDC variable damper control
EDC electronic damper control

At least BMW uses common words to describe it and those are : damper and control otherwise this situation could have been worse
