I'm wondering if the 850 N63 is really different or it's just marketing. I'm reading that it was "revised " and it got bigger turbos and modified intake system. As we all know 2018-19 M550 dyno at 540-550 engine hp...
850 also has a 0-60 time of 3.6 sec. and it's slightly heavier.

million dollar question. The M850 has shorter gearing the first 3 gears which will/can attribute in faster acceleration times to 60. The N63Tu3(m850i) motor did receive some upgrades like you said. I know when the M550i came out the F10 M5 was ending production so wouldn't make sense to rate them with similar HP. The issue also is that we really only have Dinan's dyno as well...not to say it's not accurate, but would be nice to see other dynos.

Guess we will find out once the 2020 M550i is out though I don't think any magazines will test it out until the 2021 LCI.

The MY2020 model M550 will have the new engine N63B44T3 along with the rest of V8s (750, x5 M50, x7 x6).
523 HP
553 lb torque

Plus i hope it will get new features and updates that 750 got (adaptive laser lights, alcantra headliner, remote start etc)

850 already has that engine. it has some good upgrades see PDF

Go drive the 850 adn decide for yourself. Video of it on the track
