I just got back from the 5 series ride and drive event in Austin. this is what I will say about it the vs the f10. it is similar on the outside, but much more refined. everyone loves the look of the f10 so why are you complaining about a more refined f10 look?. the inside is just plain better. but the best difference is absolutely the drive. we got to drive on circuit of the Americas and I was able to push the car as hard as I could. it is pretty amazing what that big car is capable of and how well it handles those situations. it is truly an incredible car that will dominate the segment.
edit: I think the luxury line fits the g30 better than the Msport. I really don't like what they did with the front bumper of the Msport cause it doesn't look low enough, and the back just looks narrow. the luxury package is the way to go cause it looks very elegant but with a sporty touch. check my instagram for a few pictures of the past two days.

Did you only drive the 540i? Do you know what suspension it was equipped with?

I don't think I'll ever be a fan of the kidneys connected to the headlights.

But to answer your question about the 550. I guarantee it will be faster on a track than the f10 m5. That's how confident I am in this chassis.

The ones saying the G30 looks exactly like the F10, the difference is bigger than one might think.
Having seen the G30 live and sitting inside it, yes the F10 was a great 5 series, pretty much up there with the E39 (imo). But the G30 is just so much better than the F10 ever was, it´s a bigger gap between the F10 to this new model, than it was from previous 5 series.

It should be in the showrooms from February 11.

The 540 felt as agile as a 3 series. The 550 will be quicker and it is on such a better chassis.

I think the F10 was a clean design with classic "5-series" looks. The new design is still handsome but has some non-traditional elements like the headlights being connected to the kidneys, the chrome surrounding the kidneys being excessively thick, and the little vent on the fenders. It looks more "luxurious" whereas the F10 looked more "sporty."
Overall, the G30 looks like a more "mature" version of the F10. If the F10 were a 25 year old man, the G30 would be the same person at age 35. That's the best way I can describe it. Anyhow, the G30 will be a winner if it drives like a real BMW. The F10 was a piece of shit from behind the wheel and didn't deserve to wear the roundel one bit. |
