12v Power Sockets

I have a Transcend Drivepro camera powered by the 12v socket in the rear of the car (so that the wiring is not visible in the front). The only problem is the 12v socket stays live even after the car is locked - is there any way to change this?

Are you sure it does not shut off after some time delay? My last BMW shut of power to accessory outlets after about 10 minutes.

DAK.

No USB in the arm rest unless you spec it - there is a 12v charger in the arm rest. USB charger in console under sliding lid.

So that I don't use up a USB or power socket, here's what I'm planning on doing. I've purchased the following items:

12VDC-to-USB adapter
20' USB cable

(I'm glad I am responding...just realized I need to order a fuse tap, too!)

From reading, my understanding is that there is a fuse box in the trunk. I probably should have checked when I had my car a few weeks ago, but oh well. Anyway, the plan is to run the USB cable to the trunk and pull power from a fuse back there...obviously with the intent to find a switched fuse.

If you've already tucked your cable so it's hidden to the back seat, it shouldn't be much more work to get to the trunk.
