They did it, they finally did it. The grill is connected and no longer kidney grills, the devolution is complete.

And ironically that was true in the past until the E60 generation.

The G30 is a shorter 7 Series minus the structural Carbon Core bits..

Considering 5 series has a well defined customer segment, the LCI changes are very incremental.

My favorite 5 series was the previous generation M Sport edition.

They've managed not to f*ck this up - which is quite an achievement, given some of the recent designs hitting the showrooms.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the elimination of the cerium bits. If they're really gone, that was a hasty and a welcome retreat.
This is a 530e thats why there's no cerium trim.

I was actually thinking the opposite. I like the new G20 style front but prefer the pre lci tail lights.

The cerium bits are only on the M550i and these images are of a 530e. But agreed, the modern day "gold package" should go away. It really kills the M340i design for me.

The cerium bits should be on an M-Performance model, no? My understanding is that this one is just an M-Sport one, not sure?

Happy to see that they didn't get carried away with the kidney grills like the current 7 series

Absolutely great!

They’ve fixed the too angular exterior edges of the kidneys by making them vertical like it should have been from the beginning.

I agree with many of you; the pre-Lci > lci. The worst aspects are the front line extending from bottom of bumper to bisect headlight (like g20) and the tail lights. Honestly I'm not a fan of the huge grills but it seems they did a better job with the 7 series, especially regarding road presence. This thing no longer looks distinguished and resembles a g20 too much imo.

I don't mind the front, it's the rear that has the biggest issue. When did BMW decide that it was a good idea to incorporate design elements found on every other car instead of sticking with their own unique design cues? The rear looks like a Honda.

At the time when the G20 came out, I personally considered it the perfect BMW - had everything you would consider as BMW. The LCI removes some of that.

In a perfect world, and considering where the G20 stands in the line up, they should have taken the 7er rear and put it on the LCI if they front is going to closely resemble the 3er.

People seem to not notice that the pics compare a 530d to an M550.

Probably will still be there as these images are of the 530e. The M550i will still retain these as it's a common theme for M performance models.

Looks great.
Unfortunate for pre-lci however as those don't look like upgrade compatible parts without a serious change of body panels.
