I'm surprised no one has mentioned the elimination of the cerium bits. If they're really gone, that was a hasty and a welcome retreat.
People seem to not notice that the pics compare a 530d to an M550.
No, the LCI is a 530e. Note the charging port door located on the driver's side front fender and 530e badge in the rear decklid.

They removed the "eDrive" badges from each of the rear C Pillars. I believe they started doing this with the MY2020 530e.

Nah. Not everyone wants leather. I have SensaTec and as nice as Napa is, rather have this for durability and ease of
Maintenance.

In Europe, cloth seats are standard on the G30.
Fair point.
Maintenance is almost same, I've both options.
I would prefer cloth over Dakota any day
Dakota is more stiff and hard.

Unfortunate for pre-lci however as those don't look like upgrade compatible parts without a serious change of body panels.
Again what body parts are you referring to?

Front bumper cover and headlights?

I had an E90 with Dakota. It was OK. The SensaTec in my G30 looks and feels far more premium than the Dakota leather in the LCI E90.

Most that sit inside my car compliment the nice and soft "leather" surfaces

It’s ok, but after seeing the new 4 series leaks, this looks old and ‘light’ with small grills, even before its launch. I will go with M440I GC instead.

The roominess, materials and cabin appointments of the 5er is where is at.

I like the look of Grand Coupes but the slant rear roof line sacrifices rear seat comfort and head room for looks. If you don't carry people often in the back it is an OK compromise.

The overall design is more aggressive now!
Inspired from the 7 series, but still distinctive to not confuse them!
Association with Honda design is a bad joke, the tails are 3D now which is a great improvement over the rounded and somehow bland pre lci ones.

Don't care for the rear but the front is fine. I'm just thankful BMW decided to leave the grilles alone, at least for the next 3 years!

I would agree with you if the grille in the front was still split and the diffuser from the LCI was put on the pre-LCI.

Read through the comments, mostly everybody has a good point. I've read comments about how the LCI removes a lot of traditional BMW elements that were seen on the pre-LCI, could not agree more. On the other hand I've seen comments about how the rear end looks. On one hand, it seems to slim the rear end a little bit, but on the other hand it does look somewhat generic. Don't know what to make of the front bumper, I agree with a previous comment about how the design is made to bisect the headlights. It doesn't look good. I think they're trying to adapt to a new market (Chinese market) but still trying to have some traditional aspects. Trying to satisfy both masters but failing on the latter.

This is all 3 series in looks. And you can confuse 3 with 5 really easy.

I'm personally not really seeing that much difference... The first thought that popped into my mind was "why have they even bothered" if the changes are that small? Yes - I mean there are some small detail points, and it looks fine - but in reality is anyone really going to notice a difference here? Comparing the back shots I personally think the old version has more presence to it, the LCI looks softer somehow? Obviously - still looks good, but not really anything worth noting really!

New lights are nicer, but older ones are meaner.

As a bmw should be.

It definitely looks better. I always hated how that headlight LED line touched the middle of the grill. LCI bumper looks cleaner and more cohesive as well.

I wonder how the regular non m sport will look as that is what I would get. Never liked the "m sport" trims. I just want a comfortable and refined car. I'll buy a sports car if I want something sporty.

Will miss the Angel Eyes, as they were distinctive to the BMW brand. Wish they would show interior pics too and what is changing their.

BMW should just retool now with the closures and start production back up the the 5 LCI. Why wait?
