Interior Ceramic?
Has anyone had a pro apply ceramic coating to their interior? If so, what did it cost and was it worth it?
There's a detailer in town that said he does interior ceramic coating. I've seen his shop and I know he's the only ceramic pro certified guy in town. I also know he's been in business for years in the same spot. So I feel like he's probably the real deal. I'm just curious what the results would be and if it's worth it. I'm thinking about asking him his price for a full wheel off treatment to do the wheels. I already got the exterior paint done by a friend that owns a body and detail shop. But they don't do wheels (or didn't offer) and don't do interior. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks

CarPro sells a product called Leather 2.0 that is supposed to be the equivalent of an interior "coating" of some kind, which I have used. Easy to apply. New vehicle and recently applied so I cannot speak to long term effectiveness of it as a protective coating.

Does the product on your seats make them slicker? I like the idea of protection, I don't want to be sliding around too much.

Thanks. Any recommendations on the plastic and trim parts?

My car is in for a coating and anything else I can spend my money on that a Pro detailer offers. I asked him about interior ceramic. He said that his experience on leather seats etc. was that it goes on with streaks more often than not and they aren't removable in real time. You are stuck with them until it wears off. I passed. He's doing a deep leatherique instead.

That said, he recommended doing the wheel off as first priority and then interior next. Both seemed pretty reasonable. So wheels are the plan for next month and interior at a later date. He definitely wasn't as strongly opinionated on that. He also emphasized that I'm the only person that thinks my interior needs anything. I consider dirty to be what most consider very clean.

This is what my guy used this past weekend. I thought he was using leatherique but I must have misunderstood him. He cakes it on and let's it sit overnight. I hadn't heard of this before, but I'm very impressed. I have Nappa as well and it came out great. Expensive but I'll think I'll pick up a bottle.

+1 for the Gyeon Leather Shield. Used it previously on customers cars and use it now on my own cars. Fantastic product, I've tried plenty of brands, this one just works. It won't streak if the leather is cool and out of the sun when you apply.
Honestly, I'd avoid anything that claims to 'moisturise' or 'condition' the leather, unless your seats are very worn. Automotive leather is PU coated from new. There is no way any conditioning agents can penetrate the coating to get into the leather - unless your leather is damaged or worn. Even if it is, I'd just clean it thoroughly then apply the gyeon leather shield. When you add conditioning agents on top of a good coating it stays there attracting dirt which you then wear into the leather every time you use the seats - damaging the coating. Gtechniq Matt Dash does a great job on hard interior surfaces. Lasts a while and you can recoat after 24 hours to increase coating life. Doesn't add any shine and theres a version with a long lasting anti-bacterial additive. Just apply evenly and wipe off with a microfibre. |

Do the light colored leathers get super dirty with these coatings?? Like silver stone or ivory? Those colors are beautiful, but I’d alwasy worry they woudl just get dirty so fast….
Black gets dirty too..you just cant see it.. I’m just wondering if these new ceramic coatings, or other leather protectants can actually STOP the dirt from attaching to the leathe and it stays “new” looking long term?
