I have tartufo merino on my 550. More of a natural look and feel than nappa on my last 5. Merino is more natural, with a bit less sheen than nappa. They are both about the same for feel, softness. Can't comment on wear since I only have a few months of use of the merino. I chose merino for the color, a few pics attached.

Yes I think it is higher quality in terms of finish and grain. It seems "thicker"
and perhaps even a bit less pliable. As you can see from the photos, my seat bottom is a bit wrinkled or ruffled, which I assumed was just how the merino lies. My nappa was smoother. I can't say merino is softer than nappa. If the color I wanted was available in nappa, I would have selected nappa. I am not sure if this is due to the merino, but my back seat does not have perforated leather as was the case with my 2012 with nappa. I prefer the perforated look and feel of the back seats even though not ventilated. |

I was at my dealer on Thursday and they had a 540i with the Caramel Merino Full Leather Comfort Seats. Its an amazing looking color and the leather is very soft. Its definitely worth the extra cost to get the comfort seats with the merino leather.
Here are a few pics. |
