Clicking sounds when full turn and slow roll

I've seen several posts on this over the last year, but could find the answer. I have 12mm spacers up front and I get a click when turning slowly. If I'm in a parking lot, and I turn full or almost full left, I can hear a steady click from the right front side. Similar if I turn right, sound comes from the left wheel area.

I've had the spacers for a long time and I always have music on so probably never noticed it. Before I ask the dealer and have them say I'm running spacers, I thought I'd ask if anyone with spacer and an M550 experiences similar. Can you check it out? It's minor and fine, but want to know if anyone has this? May not even have to do with the spacers and may be normal. I remember seeing posts with video. Thanks.

Thanks for this. Sounds like it's my issue but also looks like it's not doing any damage at the same time.

Will do, but this video is spot on, so I probably won't do anything. If I ask the dealer, they will tell me it's spacer related and probably won't look at them. So I could take them off before bribing it in and then it's highly likely they tell me it's normal.

Maybe I'll send this video to my indie and have him check next time in.

Appreciate your help.

It's worse than I thought. Video below. I am taking it in. I had a wheels off ceramic done last weekend and this weekend was the first time I drove it. This has to have something to do with them taking the wheels off and the spacers.

I'm having the same issue right now. Was running spacers for nearly a year also. Hoping it's some thing simple rather than bearings or CV joints!

This has to be related to the detailer as it just started when I picked it up and he took the wheels off. Maybe over torqued? I am bringing it in this morning. I will follow up.

The diagnosis is the issue is that the detailer cleaned the calipers so well that it wore off the lubricant that is on the edges of the pads by design. It could be a combination of the anti greaser or ceramic he used. Mechanically there are no issues. He said it probably won't go away and it's not worth new pads. This is my indie shop and he said the dealer would just tell me they operating as designed. The bigger the caliper the more prone they are for the pads to rub while turning.

Does it also make a clicky ticking when you are hard cornering too?

I don't think so, but I will check on my way home from work. He basically said that these large ///M brakes are prone to making clicking sounds when slow cornering. He applied the brakes during a slow roll corner and the clicking goes away which told him it was the pads rubbing on a wheel turn and the calipers clicking. Hope this makes sense.

I have the same issue, I have not done anything about it yet. My Dinan spacers will be arriving in a few days so maybe then I can take a look. I want to avoid a dealer trip.

Good to know Sam I am not the only one and also good to know it's not related to the spacers.

Joe, as a side note, just got my Dinan spacers and will be installing them soon. Any issues, vibrations or anything with them?

Nope, nothing, no issues whatsoever. I actually think the car handles a little better and is a little smoother. What sizes did you end up going with?

For install, not necessary, but you may want to clean (wire brush) and lubricate the hub before putting the spacers over them.

I got 12mm/17mm. I will lubricate for sure. Should be easy and quick install.

Nice, you probably already told me that. Same setup as mine. Install should be quick and easy, just make sure you torque the lugs, 140 NM is the spec.

Will do. Still waiting on the waiting on the 12mm to arrive. If I have time this weekend I might do the BM3 stage 1 93 tune but a little nervous.

Now that's a fun weekend project! Do it! Very interested in how you like it and the process. I have the Dinan piggy back and if I wasn't under warranty and didn't pay so much money for it, I think I would experiment with BM3.

I will let you know how it goes once I flash. I have a 3rd party warranty so I am not worried as my BMW shop known and understands as they do tunes too so they would really hide that from warranty claim.

Who is your third party through? My CPO is up in January 2023 and I am trying to figure out whether to add more years of CPO or go aftermarket.

I have route 66 warranty. I think it might be available only if you finance. It was something I was able to add through Hanscom Federal credit union.
