2020 M550i- sqeaking rear brakes @ 3500 miles?

Anyone experiencing sqeaking brakes on their 2020 M550i?
I am surprised by this, have not yet contacted the dealer.

I hear them on occasion on my M550i. Unfortunately it may be called a normal thing by a dealer. It's a common occurrence on my M2 given its more aggressive pads.

The stock rear pads aren't supposed to make sounds unless it's super cold and humid, have a shop take out the rear pads and check them. The pads could possibly be shifted out of place a little or the adhesive between pad and their backing plate might have melted off. It should not be a hard diagnosis and fix for most mechanics.

If you do a few hard stops it may help.

Asked my service advisor about the Sport Brakes when I was thinking about a 550 for my next car. He said I might hear some "squeaking" due to the harder pad material used. Must be a fairly common complaint because he also said there was nothing he could do about it. Pad material used give better breaking performance and the reason they are standard on the 550 and not an option like on the 540.

A trick I use is to wash the car and make sure to spray down the wheels, rotors, etc. Then let the car sit overnight to develop a fine layer of rust on the rotors. The next morning do a bedding in procedure with 4-5 repeated hard 60-10 stops, not quite to ABS threshold. A long straight with no place for cars to pull out works best. Don't come to a complete stop each time, just immediately accelerate back to speed. Then drive 5-10 minutes with as little braking or stopping as possible on the return home. The layer of rust helps clean the pads and rotors to reduce the squeaking plus it gives smoother stops.
