530e fast enough?

Hi Guys,

So I ordered a 530e and I am wondering whether it is fast. With 0 - 60 under 6 s it should be very fast right and faster than a 530i? I am coming from a Volvo v60 with about 180 hp and 0-60 of 9 s.

Are there 530e owners here that can elaborate on their experiences regarding the performance? Do you think it is poor, or do you really get pushed in your seat? How does the performance change when you elec. range reaches 0 km?

My 530e is fast enough for me. It goes and doesn’t disappoint!

You’ll never lose the full performance of the car. BMW aggressively makes sure you have enough battery for eBoost even on a flat HV battery.

I concur. I have never failed to have sufficient power including passing on a steep hill with a 65 mph speed limit.

BUT I WOULD STILL RATHER HAVE A 545e!

Agreed! Mine has never felt slow, you get all the punch of the turbo 4 plus the instant torque of an electric motor to fill in all the "gaps".

If you have time, I would suggest taking it on a test drive at least twice or even three times. I ended up going with a M550, but I asked the dealer if I could take it out on the backroads and on the freeway to get a better feel.

I noticed some issues on the backroads(body roll) that were not noticeable on the freeway. I ended up adding the dynamic handling package to offset this.

Point is it depends on your driving style, only a test drive would give you the final verdict.

I believe in the golden rule which is that a car must have a sub-5 0-60 to qualify as "quick."

For a few euro's more you could have had the 545e and put that doubt to bed. Mine's a rocket. Unfortunately we only have motorways here in Ireland and not autobahns. And also more cops patrolling them than in GTA.
