They also wouldn’t budge on price and wouldn’t even throw in winter mats.
BMW of Norwood is my go to for service for the M550. Peabody is fine for the X5. It’s close and my girlfriend takes it in. I have like 6 more years of full extended service (brakes, etc) and 4 more factory, so I’ll be bringing it to Peabody since I have zero out of pocket for a long time.
I hate it when dealers do this. Nickel and dime you just for a few bucks. A recommendation to buy from them would be worth more. Sorry to hear they do this. Unlikely I’d buy a car there since I’m only there seasonally and my KY dealer treats me pretty well.

Try the DWS06 when you get a chance. I think you will have better performance in wet/light snow with them at 4-5 mm, at least based on my own experience.

The warranty says 50K and I'd have been happy if they got close to that. I was amazed that they went beyond 50K with decent tread left to boot when I sold the car. I drove them in all sorts of weather and my general driving style is moderate.

My motivation was to compare how it compares to our M550’s. All I can say is I wish I didn’t drive it. The car handles like it is on rails. Almost zero body roll taking really hard and fast 90 degree turns. It feels like the car is half the weight of the M550. Crazy. In terms of power, I’m running around 580 horse power so 600 wasn’t a revelation, but the shift points are different. M5 has “Road” (Comfort to us), Sport and Track. All three modes have different shift points than any of our modes. Very aggressive. The ride is not harsh at all. I drove over more potholes in 20 minutes than I have in three years with the M550 and it took them very well.

The car is a lease return with 30k miles on it and it felt like a three year old 10k miles per year lease car on the inside. Not the car for me and my OCD. Lots of key scratches on the wood, wear on the bolsters and door cards. Not the car for me for sure, but the juices are flowing more than ever. I’m glad mine is garaged for a few months so I can “forget” how it rides and forget how the M5 rides. [...]
Yeah I’d really like to get an F90 at some point. It will be a while, by then all the lightly used will probably be gone. But I think it would be pretty cool to have one day.

You can talk about garages and forgetting all you want. But you and I both know the truth - you’re fucked. Go ahead and accept it. You’ll own one by July. Hahaha

That was on my list but I needed them ASAP and my dealer had the Pirellis and Goodyears in stock and I already knew I didn’t want the Goodyear Eagle Sport AS because I had them on my 540 and hated them. So I got the Pirellis and I do like them better than the GY’s. But my next tires will probably be Michelin. Hopefully that’s a couple years away.

I had Pirellis (Cinturato P7) stock on my 3 series when I first bought it and although they had mixed reviews, they got me through a pretty heavy snowstorm once and earned my respect.

I’ll buy from any dealer if they have the car I want. I went to a few other BMW dealers before Peabody. A year ago, inventory was still low for both new and certified. I wanted a real cognac colored interior that wasn’t sensa or Dakota. They had the car (Vernasca leather).

This is what pissed me off. After literally paying sticker without them even throwing in mats, I through down a deposit and said I’d be back in the morning to fill out the paperwork. We were exhausted and just wanted out of there and dinner.

Sat down with the Finance manager the next morning. I know the drill so I tried to save her some time. I told her the only thing I was remotely interested in was wheel and tire insurance. She sticks an iPad in my face with a long menu of packages in gold, bronze and silver with the monthly payment for them at the bottom. I tell her again what I may be interested in. She fucks with the iPad and swings it around and there is a monthly payment for W&T. I have to ask her how many years it’s for and to compute the total. It was something like $4,000 for 4 years. I said no thanks, that’s high and I’ll go elsewhere. She then gives me the “what are you willing to pay”?

I said, honey I did this dance last night buying the car, I’m not battering with you. She was beyond pissed I wasn’t buying anything and was a total bitch for the rest of the “closing “.

Yup, you know me too well. I definitely got the bug. Trying to be responsible by rationalizing, but rationalization and cars never worked well for me.

Yes you have

The company I work for has a contract with a tyre shop with mobile fitters for the work vehicles, sure beats waiting around for an hour or two at a shop when having new tyres fitted. Had a new set of Pirelli Scorpions fitted on the Discovery before Christmas, the fitter told me that my nuts are swollen ; (wheel nuts) which reminds me to order a new set tomorrow & it all costs me nothing…Yay

Funny, I had Scorpions put on this too today. I don't love Pirellis, but it's my beater and they were cheap. This particular mobile tire company - Boston Mobile Tire - is outstanding. Owner operated. Arrived exactly on time and was done in 30 minutes. The tires were $267 each on tire rack. He charged me $200 per tire. Total for four tires balanced, mounted, recycle fee, etc. was $1,195. I'm not sure Costco or any of the tire retailers could have beat that. I'd also have to sit around for 3 hours and watch them like a hawk. I once had a kid start to lower my car before tightening the lugs.

Yeah the Scorpions are pretty good, they were fitted to the Discovery when I was given it…maybe four years ago now & this will be the second set I’ve had fitted. Cost as you say is reasonable these were £688 fitted ($870)

Replaced both ambient air cartridges today…car interior smells very nice again now. Was slightly surprised that the two I bought previously only lasted about 4,000 miles or so, still at it’s not a big expense at £19 ($24) each from my local MD. Went with Blue suite 2 (breeze of refreshing sea surf and hints of tangerine and grapefruit peels) & Authentic suite 1 (unites warm woody notes, amber and the aroma of coffee with the elegance of a stylish hint of leather)

Nipped into the showroom whilst I was there…had a look & a sit in an i5 m60, the g60 doesn’t look better in the flesh & I thought the interior feel, look & materials aren’t as good as the G3x. I don’t like anything about it…well maybe the seat felt more comfortable than my G31 but other than that…meh. Also why does it have to have such a dissproportioned M badge in relation to the 60? Maybe bmw have taken note of all of those that like to add big M badges to their cars

Changed oil, oil filter and the two air cleaners. Getting ready to take to the dealership this week with a long list of warranty repairs including a defective windshield, as my warranty will end next month.

Got the winders tinted yesterday. No pics yet, since winter decided to show up with a -20-ish (F) wind chill.

Replaced the bowden cable for the exterior door handle

Reason: door handle gets stuck in cold weather , and door wont close (unless you push down the door lock and shut the door)

There was water between the cable and the rubber which becomes a brick of ice when it gets cold..

Bought the AC Schnitzer front splitter today, delivery maybe a couple of weeks or so….excited
The splitter will be the last piece of the ACS aero pack & it’ll just finish it all off nicely I think.
Will decide once it arrives whether to leave it matt black to match the side skirt extensions or have it painted gloss black to match the front spoiler & get the side skirts painted gloss black…hmm choices, choices

As I’d been enjoying the G31 these last few sunny but cold days & won’t be using it again now till the weekend I gave it a wash this afternoon…fuck me it was cold 1 degree & sunny, cold enough for the snow foam to freeze on the car, anyways I cracked on got it clean then put in my garage to mf dry.
Once that was done I had to pressure wash the frozen soap suds away as that stuff was like an ice rink.
Had a cuppa tea & went back out an hour ago to vacuum the carpets & wash & dry the wheels

Just ordered a K&N air filter, if it didn’t look like such a faff to change it I’d have got one when I first bought the G31. But as I’m going to give it a bit of a service soon, it's coming up to 18 months since I bought it so am going to do, oil (Castrol Edge 0-W30), oil filter, plugs, fit the K&N, rear discs & pads & diff oil change, also after enjoying reading the changing cabin filters thread am going to do those as well. Am thinking positioning myself upside down in the seat
