3/2022 Software update

For those of us who dont have OTA updating....

I just had my car programmed with the 3/2022 software.
Lots of new stuff (to me) and supposedly it increases gas mileage a little.
I'm psyched to finally have android auto. Here's a few screen shots of things I didnt have before.

It's a 2020 Daddy. The year BMW decided lets do GREAT things, but not all of them. Hahahaa....which is why our cars (2020) have everything minus headlight/tails and remote programming. Boooo......

It is like BMW forgot what year the LCI was so they ordered half of the buffet.

2020 was not an LCI year for the G30, but it was the year iDrive transitioned from version 6 to 7. And I totally share your pain not having the modules for remote software update. I don't know what happened, but I do remember early versions of my online owners manual having instructions on how to utilize remote software update.

With the crappy car market not expected to subside soon I think I'll be buying out my lease when it's up in January. I'm just wondering what happens beyond year 3 when the free service warranty period is finished. I think it will be a tough pill to swallow if these buggers some day start charging me an arm and a leg to perform a software update. At that point I'd sure like to see some class action litigation to prevent such charges.

I see you have the Parking Assist package. Is your Remote 3D view working in the MyBMW app ? Mine was not and it required a software update. Several 2020 cars have this problem.

2020's had that iDrive7 Lite thing too. Such a strange mash-up for BMW. I have never seen them do an in between LCI like this. iDrive7 "Lite", Larger Screen, Old Tails, Old Headlights, Old Grill, TU3, etc. Just all over the place.

ha ha, that's a funny way of putting it. It's like they were not sure what they wanted to do.

My Remote 3D has worked fairly well but I have been diligent at asking for software updates during any routine oil service visits or service bulletins. In the first year when the app was called BMW Connected I remember that the side mirrors would not fold back in after viewing Remote 3D. At some point after the transition to My BMW app the feature seemed to work properly and no issue with the mirrors returning to folded state after a Remote 3D view.

That's strange, I've never had issues with the remote 3D view in the pre-LCI. Surprised that BMW would create an issue that wasn't there before.

There's a TSB for it. It only happened to certain 2020 cars built within a certain timeline. My car was in it. I'm happy to get the free update versus paying $400 or whatever BMW charges for it.

For sure. One thing I miss about the previous few BMWs is Android Auto, but I also have a work Iphone that I carry with me when I go for a drive to use with Carplay.

First time i've used Android Auto. Still getting used to it, but its pretty cool. I'm going to put a few movies on my phone's micro SD.
